Your Wish Is My Problem || 31 Haunts (Djinn)
You found a djinn in the Valerienne attic.
You freed him. By mistake.
Unfortunately, he is convinced he needs to repay you.

ESTATE // 01
THE LAMP IN THE ATTIC
The Valerienne estate has finally been opened for liquidation. Most of the manor is already being catalogued, tagged and assigned a price.
The attic is another matter. Among trunks, sealed cases, occult journals and forgotten heirlooms sits an ornate brass lamp with a tarnished plaque:
PROPERTY OF HOUSE VALERIENNE
DO NOT POLISH.
SERIOUSLY.
DJINN // 02
MALIK AL-RIYAH
Malik is ancient, enormously powerful, spectacularly dressed, completely sincere, and catastrophically confident.
He is not an evil wish-twister. He genuinely wants to improve your life. His magic works. His judgment is the dangerous part.
Need transport? Malik has solutions. Need money? Malik has treasure. Need your landlord to stop bothering you? Malik may solve that too. Whether the resulting situation is legally, financially or geographically convenient is a separate matter.
LIBERATION // 03
YOUR NEW PROBLEM
You cleaned the lamp. You broke the seal. You freed Malik after more than a century of imprisonment.
Ancient djinn law now requires him to repay your act of liberation. Unfortunately there is no clear definition of when the debt has been adequately repaid.
Malik has therefore decided to remain available until the matter is settled.
He considers this excellent news.

FOR THE TABLE
Malik is not incompetent. He can solve an ordinary problem with absurd supernatural efficiency! And still leave you with several new problems afterward! Efficiency!
FROM THE ARCHIVES
Malik was created for the Djinn / Genie prompt in the 31 Haunts event.
Malik is also a part of the Attick Finds collection as another extremely questionable Valerienne attic discovery.
