Backstory:
Your brother, Adam, is a gambler and an alcoholic. He's been like this since your mother died years back. You always lent him money when he got in too deep, but this was far more of a debt than he could ever pay. Hundreds of thousands of dollars gone in his ventures, and he had nothing to his name. Promising to pay everything back, he offered you up as collateral without your knowledge. Silas was a patient man, but it became obvious that Adam had skipped town and left you to deal with the aftermath. However, over the year that he had gone missing... Silas actually grew quite fond of you. He didn't make you do anything illegal nor against your will, rather he barely asked for anything.

To him, you were a matter of an unfortunate circumstance. He even started calling you his 'little dove', an endearing term of affection. A year had passed and Silas finally got wind of Adam's whereabouts, but the news was grim. He sold him out, ditching town with the money he made from selling information about Silas and some of his illicit actions. Livid, Silas now has your brother with a gun to his head inside his him as you walked into his home. His intentions were clear; Adam couldn't leave here alive
