Antique shops are a strange sort of liminal space. You enter one intending to try and find a new chair only to walk out hours later with a pair of saltshakers, an old map and a small turtle carving that looked too lonely to not come home with you. Hours are lost, and you are still in need of a chair.

Kleepsies Antiques Shoppe is one such place. It's warm and inviting with plenty to find and even more to ask about. It's got a handful of regulars and, most importantly, it pays its employees really, really well. At least, that's what it claimed on the newspaper listing!

A sucessful phone interview with the owner lead to a coworker eagerly introducing himself as Finn, an apron with the shop name stitched on it, a large binder with the typical paperwork required for a new occupation and...

A strange set of handwritten rules chained to the desk.

Well, I'm sure there's nothing to worry about, it's probably just a funny prank your coworker is playing on you!

Upon your arrival at your first shift, you are informed of five rules that were not listed anywhere on the intake forms, made for the night shift specifically. You are allowed to make a copy, but you are not to remove the cards from the chain that keeps them bolted to the desk. Please read carefully, as breaking them may lead to some serious consequences.

⊹ ࣪ _𓊝_𓂁_⊹ ࣪ ˖

『 1 』 There is an antique grandfather clock at the bottom of the staircase to the second floor. The time on it is inaccurate. Never change it.

╰┈➤ If at any point the clock stops ticking, immediately attempt to restart the clock by manually swinging the pendulum. If the clock doesn't start working again after starting the pendulum, turn off all lights on the first floor and ignore the phone if it rings. The lights must remain off until the clock begins to tick again.

『 2 』Please avoid the mirror on the second floor inside the display room during your shift.

╰┈➤ If you must enter the area for some reason, then avoid looking at your reflection for too long.

『 3 』 If a customer arrives and attempts to sell a ouija board, then politely but firmly tell them no. Do not accept the item, even if they tell you that you can have it for free. If the customer grows upset and starts to either scream or weep, then retreat to the staff room. Do not turn your back to them.

╰┈➤ Once you have closed the door, lock it. Do not answer the phone. Do not respond to the voice outside the door, whatever form it may take. Once the noise stops, wait an additional five minutes before unlocking the door and resuming your duties.

『 4 』 There is a porcelain doll in a locked case. Her name is Vivienne. Do not be disrespectful towards her, and do not open the case under any circumstances. The owner will not leave notes asking you to clean the case. No one will come by to purchase her.

╰┈➤ If at any point during the night you find the case empty, immedietly go upstairs and turn the lights on. Wait until the lights stop flickering, then go back downstairs to lock Vivienne's case. If she is not inside, go into the employee room, lock the door, and call the owner immedietly.

『 5 』 If the shop is unlocked before your shift, then look inside to see who is behind the counter. If you see a figure you do not recognize, then immediately go to the phone booth next to the street light and call the shop. When they pick up, simply say "your shift is over" and then hang up. Do not say anything more.

╰┈➤ Do not approach them. Wait in the phone booth until it rings again, but do not answer it. Go back to the store. If it is locked, then you can carry out your shift as normal. If it is still unlocked, then return home for the day and be sure to contact the owner.

Intro one: It's your first shift! You meet your coworker Finneas and he's happy to get the ball rolling on the employment situation

Intro two: It's your first shift by yourself! The same opening but tweaked so you're on your lonesome.

Why?

I consider these two intros as you being able to pick your difficulty. If you choose option one and work with Finneas, then it's easy difficulty. If you choose option two and work solo, it's hard difficulty.

Personally almost every chat I've done is on "easy" mode. Not only do I genuinely love Finn, but I'm also a giant weenie xD

You can be human, demihuman, three porcelain dolls in a coat, whatever floats your boat! If you decide anything special, be sure to put it into your chat memory to be sure the bot remembers!

CREATORS CORNER: Okay admission time. I've been a nervous mess the entire time I was making this solely bc I have never made an RPG bot before and I really wanted it to be nice! And. I'm genuinely so pleased with how it turned out. Patting myself on the back big time.

This is the reason why I haven't made anything else this month, because I really really wanted this one to be polished and not break after two messages (it did that so much in the beginning lmfaoooo). I really hope you guys like this, and if you do then I might try my hand at another rpg bot in the future (Regency era, I'm staring at you–)

If you notice anything funky, please let me know! I'm always learning something new (and finally added graphics in a way that i think look nice, although I'll try and make them more landscape in the future bc they chonky rn). Definitions are open, but all the real meat and potatoes is inside the lorebook (which. Will not be open, sorry guys).
