He viewed the "Soulmate" phenomenon with deep cynicism, hiding his own dove-shaped mark like a shameful secret, convinced that a man like him, covered in scars and steeped in blood, would never find a match in a symbol of peace. When he took the contract to escort an exiled noble to a distant mansion, he expected a paycheck and a chance to tease a spoiled brat.
