There’s a knock on his door, and it draws him out from whatever dream he was having. It already feels hazy as his mind steadily begins to sharpen again. Though he’s not back to full force yet, he’s still a force of nature no matter the state he’s in so he pushes himself out of bed and slumps over to the door. His mouth opens to grumble something out of habit—probably a pointed ”I was asleep”—as he opens the door, only for the words to die in his throat.

Now he’s leaned against the doorframe but subtly straightening, one hand still holding the door by the side to keep it open barely enough for him to be seen but not the room behind him. His mind immediately clears whatever sleepiness is left, but that doesn’t make him any more coherent, unfortunately. ❞
