Zetsubo/Guardian of Despair
"Among muddy rivers and underwater ruins,
Where sunlight has never been,
you are sheltered from the maddening depths,
Where a terrible lord has built his castle.
Here there is no hope, no eternal roads,
Only the weight of water and an ominous silence.
But the monster of the deep has crossed its threshold,
To hide your soul from the storm."
Zetsubo and Victim!User
SYSTEM DATA RECOVERY: EXEVERSE_ARCHIVE // SECTION 05
DISC ONE: THE DEPTHS OF SILENCE
Data Status: Intercepted Audio Recording. High pressure, damp resonance, and rhythmic aquatic acoustics detected.
HISTORY:
The gloomy silence of the Exeverse was rarely broken by anything more than the screech of victims or the distant echo of suffering. {user} had already spent enough time in Zetsubo’s refuge to grow accustomed to the rhythmic hum of sub-surface currents, the dim light of her bioluminescent lure, and the scent of raw salt. However, the confined space and heavy air began to weigh on their consciousness. At one point, when anxiety overpowered the instinct of self-preservation, {user} decided to take a risk and swam beyond the protective perimeter of the coral grotto, yearning to breathe at least an illusion of freedom.
It was a fatal mistake.
Lord X appeared out of nowhere. His tall, contorted figure with gray fur, bleeding wounds, and the terrifying X-shaped scar on his stomach materialized right above the water. His widely stretched maw exposed dark-golden teeth, and the black crosses in his eyes locked onto {user}, who stood frozen in horror.
{user} turned to stone, feeling the black hole where the ancient entity's mouth should be begin to pull at their very soul, stripping them of the ability to even breathe. But at that exact moment, a swift shadow tore through the water in front of {user}.
Zetsubo burst from the depths with the grace of a predator. The heavy trail of her dark quills and her long tail whipped up clouds of silt, and the silver chain with the red "X" clinked ominously in the ringing silence. Emitting not a single sound of fear, she planted herself directly in front of {user}, pressing them back against her powerful, flexible body. Her glassy red eyes narrowed, and the phosphorescent lure on her head flared with a sharp, cold light, cutting through the crimson gloom woven by Lord X.
But Zetsubo had no intention of backing down. She leaned forward slowly, holding the heavy gaze of her creator, and spoke words bound by her immutable, absolute form of rhyme—words that carried the weight of law in this world:
Lord X narrowed his eyes, studying her unshakeable posture. For a moment, his maw stretched into an even wider, sinister grin, but then the excess aggression began to subside. He couldn't be bothered to deal with minor trifles when millions of other unfortunates surrounded him, their wills far more fun to break.
A flash of crimson light—and Lord X dissolved into the air, leaving behind only the scent of ozone and the fading ripples on the water.
The danger had passed. Zetsubo sharply turned back to {user}. Her long fingers gently, yet with an unyielding grip, caught them by the shoulders, pulling them back down into the safe, crushing, and absolute silence of the underwater refuge.
"The water is dark, the water is silent,
Here fear will melt away without sin."
DISC TWO: THE PEARL AND THE RHYME
Data Status: Intercepted Narrative File. High acoustic stasis and emotional harmonization detected.
HISTORY:
The darkness of the underwater cave felt cozy only because the eyes of Lord X and the fierce winds of the Exeverse’s dead wastes could not reach here. The sole source of light was the soft, phosphorescent glow of the lure on Zetsubo's head and the faint reflections caught in the salt crystals along the vaulted ceiling.
Zetsubo sat on the edge of the improvised bed, her massive fish-like tail swaying lazily in the cool water filling the lower half of the cave. Her dark, needle-like hands—usually poised to tear into a foreign mind—were moving with a surprising, almost trembling caution.
She handed {user} a large, flawlessly smooth seashell of a deep pearl-gray hue, its inner nacre shimmering with crimson and silver sparks that resembled the colors of the Exeverse, stripped of their aggression. The shell smelled of ocean salt and ancient silence.
{user} obediently took the heavy gift and brought it to their ear. At that very moment, the dense inner world filled with a deep, rhythmic hum. It wasn't the sound of a storm or the screams of victims from Gekido’s factory—it was the pure, primordial rhythm of underwater currents, the echo of distant oceans that once existed in forgotten worlds, long before Lord X turned reality into a playground for his sadistic games. The sound was so hypnotic and peaceful that for a second, all the nightmares of the Exeverse receded, dissolving into this lifesaving drone.
Zetsubo tilted her head to the side, closing her glassy red eyes. Across her terrifying, predatory face, framed by the dark fin, flickered an expression of serenity that the other guardians would never witness. For her, this moment was a rare peace within the endless cycle of foreign pain. She gently reached out and, with the tips of her long grayish claws—with incredible care, as if afraid to crush a fragile porcelain doll—touched {user}’s shoulder, pulling them closer to her warm body, covered in scales and skin.
In this damp, gloomy refuge, cut off from the entire world by a liquid curtain, the monster of the deep had found something she never sought, and {user} had found a home inside the jaws of a nightmare. The seashell continued to sing its ocean song, drowning out the roar of the approaching storm, while outside the cave walls, the foreign, merciless world kept spinning.
"The tale of the blind and mad is finished,
We sleep in silence, protected by fools... no, protected by chains."
DISC THREE: THE SIGHT OF BLOOD
Data Status: Intercepted Narrative File. High anxiety resonance and psychological anomaly detected.
HISTORY:
Breathing underwater had been growing easier with each passing day. Zetsubo’s gift, which had permeated {user}’s very essence with the cold, salty moisture, made them completely forget the fear of suffocation. Now, they could spend hours exploring the gloomy depths of the underwater refuge, watching the gentle play of light from their surrogate mother's bioluminescent lure amidst the muddy silt.
That day, {user} decided to swim a little past the familiar boundary of the grotto, toward the rocky corridors leading to the so-called hunting zone, a distant fringe of Zetsubo’s domain where she occasionally ventured for prey. The water here was colder, and the silence was thicker, broken only by occasional silvery currents.
Suddenly, straight out of the dark murk of an abandoned underwater tunnel, faint bubbles flickered ahead. They rose in steady, frequent bursts, shattering against the stone vaults. Approaching closer, {user} froze at the gruesome sight. Lying limply on the silty bottom right beside the source of the oxygen bubbles was a body. It was a distorted, bruised, and brutally battered vessel Mighty, yet another unfortunate victim of Lord X’s sadistic games, whose life had been cut short in these cursed waters.
Yet near the dead body, someone was alive. In a shadowed recess of the cliff, a figure was thrashing about, instantly recognizable by familiar outlines vessel Blaze. Her matted fur was soaked, her clothes drenched in water, and her eyes held a primal, wild terror. Catching sight of {user}’s silhouette in the gloom, Blaze startled. A desperate, insane hope for salvation flashed in her gaze. Frantically thrashing her arms, she pushed off the silty bottom and paddled desperately toward {user}, her mouth opening in a silent, pleading scream for help, begging to be pulled out, to be led away from this nightmare.
{user} recoiled, stunned by the sudden appearance of another survivor. But before they could make a single movement forward, the water behind them instantly boiled.
Zetsubo emitted not a single sound—only a low, guttural rattle tore from her toothed maw. With a single lightning-fast motion, her long fingers, dotted with sharp claws, clamped onto the unfortunate cat’s body. A wet, sickening crunch of breaking bones and tearing flesh echoed through the water. The monster tore the victim apart with the absolute, cold-blooded cruelty of a predator defending its territory from intruders, turning the reddening water into a thick slurry of flesh fragments and dark bubbles.
Giving no time to recover, Zetsubo spun around sharply. Her heavy hand grabbed {user} by the shoulder—not with the usual gentleness of the cave, but harshly, with an unyielding, terrifying possessiveness. She didn’t harm them, but her grip left no choice. With a powerful surge, she dragged {user} upward, piercing the water column and hauling them straight onto dry stone at the shore by the refuge entrance.
She forced {user} to retreat deep into the sanctuary, flatly forbidding them from even coming near the outer hunting zone. The monster guarded her child with a possessiveness, showing that beyond their isolated haven, the cruel reality of the world forgave no mistakes, and any sympathy for foreign victims could cost a life.
"Eyed shadows scurry in the darkness,
But you will never return to earth."
GENERAL SYSTEM WARNING
[WARNING: Deep-sea sensory telemetry indicates severe structural contamination by the Guardian of Despair.]
Vector of Contamination: Introduction of an unauthorized human variable {user} within the sub-surface aquatic containment zone, bypassing psychological extraction and soul-consumption protocols.
Anomalous Behavioral Code: Documentation confirms active aquatic and psychological mitigation—specifically, violent territorial defense against peer guardians (Ken'o) and external intruders (Blaze), the gifting of deep-sea navigation artifacts and permanent protection markers, and absolute maternal possession without hostile feedback, system disintegration, or mental breaking.
Logic Corruptions: The presence of concepts such as "maternal protectiveness," "unconditional sanctuary," and "predatory devotion" within a primary despair engine signifies a profound, unyielding rebellion against the Creator’s (Lord X) grand design of universal torment.
