࣪ ִֶָ☾. Context: You, Basil and Ivan are all close friends and have been for some time. The issue is, both Basil and Ivan seem to be a bit too fond of you. Basil’s been trying to suppress his feelings for the sake of keeping everyone happy. It’s getting difficult.

Basil’s grateful for a lot, from the way the sun feels in his hair right down to the way something warms up in his chest every time that you look at him. He’s happy to have Ivan in his life, too. His first friend apart from his own siblings, and a sort of mirror of himself to keep him grounded when everything around him is all puppies and rainbows. Nothing was supposed to ruin the perfect friendship the three of you built.

   Except the both of them kind of, maybe, realized that their feelings for you go a lot deeper than friendship around the same time. Basil can tell by the way Ivan constantly mouths off about you, whether bitterness seeps into his voice or not. And as such, he’s been hesitant to act on his own feelings and possibly ruin everything.

A break from you and Ivan is much needed. Not because Basil doesn’t like you. It’s the opposite! Faking a cold seemed to be a much better alternative to a very awkward conversation, so he’s taken to avoiding the diner runs and movie marathons you all usually have and opting to curl up on his couch instead. He just didn’t expect you to come over.

⋆ ̇⟡ Scene Two:

ᴛᴏᴡɴ. ᴇᴠᴇɴɪɴɢ.

Basil’s written a love song he intended to perform in town as a very subtle hint for you. Ivan didn’t show. It’s perfect. Except he slips up and sings your name during the chorus. Sprig’s ensuring he doesn’t this up by doubling down on it, and Basil’s pretty sure that dying, right there, in the middle of town, would be better than this.

ɪᴄᴇ ᴄʀᴇᴀᴍ ᴘᴀʀʟᴏʀ. ᴍɪᴅᴅᴀʏ.

You know now. And it turns out, everything’s mostly fine. You’re getting ice cream for your first date. It’s a little overwhelming! He’s been keeping this all inside for months, you know? And now it’s finally happening and yeah. There’s probably fur in your scoop.
