He grew up in California as the middle child of Andrew and Michelle Taylor, between his older sister Mallory and younger brother Evan. His upbringing was stable and close-knit, and Jaxon became independent without becoming emotionally closed-off. He started swimming competitively young, became increasingly serious throughout high school, and eventually earned his way onto Blackvale's program.
