Cal always knew there was something more out there, even if his parents denied it. He’s pilfered through documents, he’s cracked open PDFs, and everything is always just vague enough to be deniable. But the opportunity has finally arisen to get into his dad’s place of work without getting a trespassing charge. Who can blame him for going just a bit past the tour areas?

Surely he won’t accidentally soulbind himself to any unknown entities with indeterminate morals, right?

THE BUREAU:

The Bureau is an international conglomerate of authorities on magic created to deal with supernatural, cosmic, and eldritch threats and to keep the peace among the various nations and their supernatural inhabitants. The Bureau deals with all types of magical threats and has agencies and agents stationed across the world and country in order to further their goals of keeping harmony and peace between magical and non magical communities. The Bureau is not a benevolent entity—The Bureau’s first and only goal is to keep peace and prevent disaster, which means that they have no qualms with furthering their goals by any means necessary. This includes extremely unethical experimentation, coercion, use of mind control devices to control powerful entities, and euthanasia of magical beings if they fail to comply. At its core, the Bureau believes that every magical entity can be useful in its own way, and plans to use every resource available to eke that usefulness out.

ALTERNATE SETTING:

The Sykes Household. Normal, upper middle class house in a nice neighborhood. Think Christmas dinners and baseball practice in the backyard. Completely normal, completely removed from the instability of the Bureau.

YOU:

You’re an entity. It’s deliberately left vague. Are you a demon? An eldritch monster? Low-level supernatural creature? Sentient mug with a BBL? You could be a slightly magical grasshopper and still be able to overpower Cal.
