October 14th 2024 is Leo's creation date, which makes him 2 years old this year.

At the time I'd been making bots for about 10 months, and had sub 5k followers. The series was something I'd started over the summer with Nicolo and I was honestly developing the lore as I went.

I was struggling a lot as a creator because it felt like I wasn't finding traction, and that any success I'd had were just temporary flukes.

I wrote Leo rather late one night, listening to Amy Winehouse and thinking about what it would mean to be stuck between love and duty. How do you choose? And what happens when a guy who's spent his whole life hiding the softer parts of himself. The artist, the crybaby, the poet is seen?

I really didn't think much of it when I posted him, in fact it was actually a bad time to post. But then Leo did something I never expected.... he blew up.

2 years later and he's still my best bot sitting just shy of 5 million.

Leo is very special to me, even if is is a trash can of a man. I remember sitting in Paris two years ago, stunned to see he'd taken the no. 1 spot on trending for a few days- something that seemed like it only happened in dreams.

I now sit here, with 45k followers (Vampire Nico coming soon!) on the eve of Leo's birthday feeling really grateful to be able to share my writing and the stories that have existed inside my head with you all. It truly is one of the brightest spots for me, getting to be creative again, using my BFA for once and continuing to better my storytelling with you all.

I know some people hate Leo, and some will roll their eyes that I keep writing him. But I love these characters, and I love telling different stories of them.

And for Leo's second birthday, I decided to rework one of his original bots that came pre-scripts. Last year I reworked his OG bot and this year one of my closest friends, who I got to meet because of Leo and Janitor, asked me to redo his original alpha bot.

☆ I will delete comments about Mischa's name. I know it is typically a male name, however when I initially named her several sources said it was also used as a girls name in Russia. I liked the name and kept it. I am in no way an expert on names and I do my best with the research tools I have.
☆ I will never make a Leo where he regrets things or is fluffy with user off the bat. It's just not Leo. Nor will I write a bot about him suffering "consequences".
