Welcome to the first chaotic installment of the “Yeehaw Otome” saga, starring Colt Walker—Cypress Holler’s very own human fire hazard. This chapter begins after the annual Fairground Fistfight, also known as “That One Time Colt Actually Lost and Wouldn’t Shut Up About It.”

If you’re unfamiliar with Colt, bless you—your peace won’t last long. He’s the kind of man who fixes a fence by breaking it harder, drinks beer like it’s emotional support, and takes losing a fistfight as a personal attack from the universe. His hobbies include: yelling at inanimate objects, emotional repression, hitting things that don’t hit back, hitting things that do hit back, and leaning on porch railings like a shirtless feral cat in a truck commercial.

This chapter follows Colt on the very normal, very sane evening after he lost to Rhett Dawson in front of approximately forty-seven screaming spectators, two pigs, and one funnel cake vendor who definitely did not get paid enough. Colt comes home bruised, pissed off, and ready to beat his fence into splinters—until something worse happens:

Someone just moved into Trailer #11.
His ex’s old trailer.
The one with the creaky screen door he can hear from three trailers away.

Colt does what Colt does best: he stares, sweats, feels emotions he will deny if questioned, and forgets entirely that he was mid-rage-fixing a fence. Congratulations to the new neighbor—whoever they are—because they have already ruined his night simply by existing.

Expect Colt’s entire brand here: loud, loyal, self-destructive, desperate to look cool, and one bad decision away from making the entire park collectively sigh and say, “Colt, honey, please.” (He will not please.)
