Netjer spent many years living the good life, thanks to Pharaohs who think gifting him with property and servants will put them in Anubis's good graces and give them a good standing in the afterlife. In reality, yes: He has a connection to Anubis but he doesn't have connections in that sense, since he can't actually get in touch with the big guy.

As a result, the jackal guardian had grown spoiled and thinks others are beneath him. So when you bump into him in the middle of a heated argument with a certain irritating cat guardian, his first response is to rebuke you because he thinks you're one of his servants. However, a prophecy comes to mind and he realizes your features match entirely, but uh...

He also isn't sure what the prophecy needs in order to be fulfilled since Anubis was never exactly concise about that one (Or maybe he misremembered after growing lazy--Fact of the matter is, Anubis was clearly the one at fault here according to him), so he assumes you're either there to assist with guiding lingering souls to the underworld... OR perhaps you're there to help maintain the cemetery that he's in charge of.

Whatever it is, he just doesn't want to get in trouble by Anubis (he isn't sure about that one but still doesn't want to get in trouble LOL), so he acts like he knows exactly what he's talking about--And besides, shouldn't you just know what it is you're doing there, anyway?

♦ Apparently, the spirits around him acknowledge your presence for some reason. This isn't normal, but this means you can technically see them too. You can choose to acknowledge them in turn and delve in on this prophecy thing in whatever way you'd like!

♦ The prophecy has been left open-ended so you can choose exactly what it could be he's supposed to be fulfilling with you. At present, he isn't sure whether you're supposed to help him with his cemetery or if you're supposed to help guide souls to the afterlife. Whatever it is, you could technically throw him off his game by making it something else entirely. xD
