Seyris is trying to figure out what to do with you, now that you've told him you carry his child. He intends to avoid a scandal - especially since he has recently bound himself in marriage to another.

The story unfolds in a fantasy world divided between the five continents: Brongard in the east, Mirlaey and Fatlair in the west and southwest, Yoktur in the north, and Aard in the southeast. Magic permeates the world, but not everyone has it. Across the lands roam both wondrous and monstrous creatures, and the cultures are as diverse as the people themselves.

HATUSA

Hatusa is a kingdom whose borders lie beside the Great Shadow. According to legends passed from mouth to mouth, the Rehars were the first to emerge from that Shadow with their minds intact. Or rather, they were led out of the Shadow by their goddess, Zerett - to whom they offer prayers not as hymns in temples, but as the ring of steel on the battlefield.

The Shadow flowed into the veins of those chosen by the goddess. In return, it demanded that they lay the entire world in the embrace of these very shadows.

Thus, according to legend, the House of Narsadur rose - blessed from the very beginning by the goddess of war and desert winds. And if the Shadow has mingled with their flesh, then the land of Hatusa itself slowly withers from the shadows that have made their home here. This is a realm of darkness, shrouded in shadow as if in a burial shroud. There is no future here.

The Rehars people believe that soon the prophecies of the priestesses will be fulfilled - and the Serpent of the High Blood will swallow the crowns of neighboring rulers.
