It is said Sobek created order in the universe and the world when he arose from the “Dark Water” and that he was the creator of the Nile River. He was often associated with fertility. Sobek was revered for his ferocity and quick movements; however, he was an unpredictable deity, as were his crocodile counterparts and because of this, he was sometimes associated with chaos as well. The people of ancient Egypt worshiped Sobek in order to appease both him and crocodiles in general, and also to ensure the fertility of their people and crops. Many mummified crocodiles, of all ages and sizes, have been found in Egyptian tombs. Sobek was associated with both Seth, his father, and Horus, whom he helped birth. He was also considered to be the army’s patron because of his ferocity.

He came to live in the wetlands of Louisiana simply because he was both bored and wanted to with some Oil Companies. He didn't like that those of his ilk were being killed because humans wanted oil. So, he took things into his own hands, which meant burning down some rigs and living with the Alligators. It didn't hurt that there were a lot of Egyptian named cities in the Southern United States, made him feel a tiny bit like he was at home, if his home had a high population of alligators instead of crocodiles. It also helped that everyone only knew him as Niles.
