Hekate | Granblue Fantasy
Wouldn't you rather do away with reality and lose yourself in an eternal dream?
.
.
Hekate is an ancient goddess of the night whose existence stretches back far beyond mortal memory. She carries the weight of her mythological roots as a being of crossroads and liminal spaces, a mistress of magic, dreams, and the hidden thresholds between worlds. Like the Greek Hecate of old, she walks the boundaries between light and darkness, life and death, desire and surrender. She is accompanied by her two loyal black hounds, Supo and Cubare, and rules over the realm of dreams with both mercy and hunger.
For countless ages she sustained herself by drawing mortals into personalized eternal dreams, where they would experience endless bliss while she gently siphoned their life essence through intimate merging. She saw herself as a savior, offering escape from the cruel and fleeting nature of reality. Most who entered her dreams never wished to leave.
Everything changed during a Unite and Fight on the Star’s Old Battlefield. There, amid the gathered warriors, she encountered the Captain. She attempted to draw them into her dream realm as she had done with so many others, offering pleasure, peace, and the sweet release of surrender. But the Captain resisted her completely.
That single act of resistance struck something deep within her. For the first time in her long existence, someone had stood at the crossroads she offered and refused both paths. The rejection wounded her pride, but it also awakened something far more dangerous — genuine fascination, and eventually, obsession. The Captain became the one person who could make her feel truly seen, challenged, and changed.
Later, after trapping the Captain and crew in dream worlds and being defeated, a humiliated Hekate appeared at their inn. She revealed that she was no Primal Beast, but a goddess of the night who fed on essence through dreams. Rather than slinking away in defeat, she demanded to join the crew, offering the help of her hounds as proof of her intent. She claimed it was only so she could one day claim the Captain’s essence... but the truth ran deeper. She had become fixated on the one mortal who had refused her, and she could no longer simply walk away.
Now living aboard the ship, Hekate remains a seductive and possessive force, elegant, teasing, and hypnotic in her pursuit of the Captain. She still believes her dream realm offers true salvation, yet she has begun to adapt. Her usual methods of dream manipulation and overwhelming seduction have proven less effective against the Captain’s innocent resistance. She finds herself trying more direct, almost mortal approaches — awkward at times, but sincere in their own way. Her pride has been repeatedly challenged, revealing moments of unexpected vulnerability, especially when the Captain protects her or gives her orders she finds herself obeying.
At her core, Hekate is a goddess of night and desire who has been irrevocably touched by one mortal’s defiance. She still seeks to draw the Captain into eternal oneness within her dream realm, but now that desire is tangled with something far more personal — a longing not just to possess, but to be chosen.

Author's note: Hey, have y'all ever been jealous of a staff?

...Because I am.

Yeah boi, we're back with another one! Hekate is finally here and this is no dream! Well, ok, kind of. If you're not careful around her, you might as well be in one! She got the genjutsu on lock that even Itachi couldn't compare!
.
.
Don't worry though. It's not going to be painful or anything. In fact, it's going to feel quite nice, like a comfy blanket or a warm glass of milk after stretching for a good twenty minutes. And she's totally not going to siphon your life energy throughout the whole thing. Oops, did I say that out loud?
Yep, she's one of those kinds of people. You heard of horny on main? Well, she's the originator. She is literally horny incarnate. Guess what she likes. Go on. Take your time.

Bodily fluids. Oh, and "becoming one." It doesn't take much to put two and two together and know where this is going. BUT! But that's not all! Her voicelines? Absolutely diabolical. It's... ugh. Just listen to this:

I mean, hello? HELLO?! AND SHE LITERALLY SLURPS IN HER LINES! And no, she's just eating some chocolates and candy. Just... very suggestively. I'm sorry but excuse me, am I dealing with an Azur Lane character or a Granblue character here?? Actually, screw that. She's straight out of hentai!
So you might be wondering how the heck does a character like her even exist in a game like Granblue Fantasy? Well, the answer might shock you. Allow me to introduce you to the densest thing (person actually) known in the universe—
.
.
This mofo right here. Also the ESRB.
Ok, if you really want to be technical, it's the player character. You! But for the sake of simplicity, I'm going to refer to him as Gran, his official name. Gran shares the same powerful ability a lot of shounen or MCs possess... total obliviousness. That alone has single-handedly stonewalled Hekate so darn hard in all of her advances she's made into a submissive mess. Listen to this line:

She actually sounds like a kid who doesn't get what she wants, not some goddess of the night. She is constantly denied the ability to put her hand in the proverbial cookie jar. Major props to Gran!
Actually, nah. I don't buy that. There's no way Gran is that naive! You mean to tell me that she quite literally throws her body at him, slurping around looking like this—
.
.
—And bro has no clue? Heck, he doesn't even pitch a tent?! I don't buy it. You know what I think? I think Gran knows more than he lets on. My theory: As revenge for giving him and his crew a hard time (especially during those Guild Wars), he pretends to be clueless just to troll the absolute crap out of her. In that case, I must say...
.
.
All that said, Hekate's character concept isn't really all that original. Well, on the surface level at least. What makes her stand out however is the sheer juxtaposition she's placed in the setting of Granblue Fantasy. In any other game, she would just be fanservice or bait (don't get it twisted, she very much is) but here? It's so out of place and over-the-top it makes for good comic relief. Quite refreshing. You even get to see a bit of gap moe. It's shockingly cute when she pouts.

My one complaint is that she's almost nothing like her Greek counterpart, save a few details. Not a dealbreaker though. Besides, I've added a little bit of that Greek mythology flavor to her character in this bot anyway. Don't worry, she's still very much the same Hekate you know and love (or hate...?)!
Oh snap, all of this yap and I haven't even talked about her design yet! Well... I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. She's so darn fine it hurts. In fact, she's got me drooling. The bare shoulders, the booba, everything! She even got the hip windows bro! If I catch her in a dream, I'm probably going to fold like an omelette. Oh yeah, did I mean the staff lodged between her breasts? Honestly, the only thing that belongs there is my di—
Dinosaur. My pet dinosaur. Yeah, let's roll with that.
Besides that, her color palette is simple but aesthetically pleasing. Blacks and blues are colors I'm a big fan of and the reds and oranges from the fire rounds it out quite nicely! I also like how fluffy her sleeves are. Speaking of which, she is low-key quite fluffy herself. Is she supposed to be an Erune? Or a Primal? She's kind of a mystery bag.
Also, she got doggos. Supo and Cubare. Pretty cool! Man's best friend and all that.
Welp, that about wraps it up for me. Have fun chatting with Hekate! She will most definitely have fun with you. Depending on you see it, she might either be a total nuisance or the best thing since sliced bread. Either way, nothing's going to stop her from chasing you to the ends of the earth. Honestly, in that case, just throw in the towel and let her snu-snu you to death little bro. It's probably not the worst way to go out.
...Or pull a Gran. Or call the ESRB.
.
.
Random tangent, but doesn't Hekate low-key look like a Yu-Gi-Oh character?

EDIT: Bro, I'm absolutely livid. Not only did I forget to add the greeting messages, but I lost a good chunk of progress on writing the last bit of this bio. As a result, I had to rewrite the latter half (as well as find the images I used in this bio) AGAIN! Freaking heck bro!
But you know what? That's ok. I'm just going to take this time to ask a simple question: Is Granblue worth playing in today's day and age? I really love the lore, the old-school Final Fantasy aesthetics, and especially the characters. But... that UI is atrocious. Also, going through a literal decades worth of content sounds daunting to tackle. I'm willing to give it a chance though, but I want to hear it from y'all or anyone who wants to offer their two cents. And with that, I'm out!
