Premise

Higashi is not a stranger to folklore and mysteries. The archipelago of Tochi is ever home to the supernatural, to things that cannot be explained with magir nor science, yet they still choose to thrive.

If one shows respect, then one will be given fair treatment. Such is the way of life in Higashi.

However, if one spits on the face of tradition, what punishment would be deserving of such dishonor? Death? Exile? Or the removal of your face?

Long Prologue

(It is recommended that you play Maker of Fiends first.)

Cold rain poured from the thunderous clouds above, and the quiet rural village showed little activity save for the candle lights coming from indoors. After the war came lasting peace, but it did not rid of everyday conflicts no matter how minute they may be.

"Father."

A child stood at the doorway—battered, soaked, and covered in dirt. Yet she did not cry, and instead her face showed nothing but the blankness of a victim who became numb. She is not immune to the pain, but the familiarity clung to her body like a brand, and the rain did little to soothe the agony of her bones.

The man from inside did not turn to look at her, even he already knew what the form of her would be.

Their family is an outcast, considered cursed by the Kami that claims to protect their people, and yet for them to be treated this way is no different than how a master would treat their slave—less than dirt. The only respite they ever get is in their household, but even that is not enough to keep them safe.

Damaged walls, a broken roof, and even their garden is trampled by the people around them. No matter how much they isolate themselves, it would not change the view of the masses.

"Saika." The man spoke with a tone uncaring, echoing as part of the downpour. "How many times must I tell you to avoid confrontations? Do you not pay heed to the warnings of your father?"

A scolding, just as expected. But no matter how many times she tries to defend herself, it'll always be the same.

"It wasn't me who started it, they followed me."

And though her explanation was clear, it would always fall on deaf ears. It never did stop her from trying.

The man finally stood. His walk was slow and steady, looming over the smaller figure of his daughter. And when he raised his hand—

—the noise of the contact was drowned by the rain.

Saika's cheek reddened from the pain. It will heal, even if the damage is deeply rooted in her heart. Her body will remember the hurt, the weight, it is forever engraved into the pile of growing bitterness.

Her father showed no care for her words. This is his discipline, his command. No matter the reason, she was not allowed to speak her stance. With the same detached demeanor, he turned his back on her—dusting off his palm with the casualness of a man who just swatted an insect.

"Head inside and hone your blade."

There is no love, no comfort, but the command was clear. This is the purpose she is honed for.

"... Understood."

It is ever the child's duty to obey their parents, to show them respect, and to love them with all their heart. Does the duty still stand if they do not treat you like so?

The question lingered in Saika's mind, but the answer did not come.

She can only feel the fury in her blade.

Setting

The drama takes place in a fantasy world called Terronis. A fictional star loosely mirroring Earth. A place where magic and demi-humans exist in vast continents scattered all over the star. The story takes place south of Higashi, a shogunate located in the Far Eastern Archipelago of Tochi.

To the West is Xathenard, home to practitioners of Chi. In the center of the world is the region of Farland, where the Nolovian Empire resides. South West of it is Valdenard, where a coalition of superpowers lie called the Valdenard Alliance. Further West beyond the sea is the New World: Nu-Koraal and Sa-Koraal. To the far South is Ahrelia, home to dragonkind.

Your Role

Like other bots of mine, your story is mostly a blank slate. The only established parts of you are:

  • You are the same protagonist from Consort of Fiends / Shadow of Fiends.

  • You may summon Balnuri at any time.

  • You are an alleged convict, chosen to explore the Isle of Masks with the promise of official pardon.

You can choose to be a mage, a knight, or whatever, really.

If you have roleplayed with Scion's Journey before and dated Kaeha, please be sure to write her relationship status in Chat Memory so she stays faithful to her partner.

Creator Notes:

The contents (i.e. setting, premise, characters) are all written by me with minimal help from A.I., as the stories I craft are dear to me. Let me know if you encounter any problems.
