Premise
It's been centuries since the last Demon Lord appeared. It doesn't necessarily mean peace for humankind, but it's one less enemy for them to face. The war is over, but the prejudice remained.
Demonkind were looked down upon, their families shoulder the sins that belonged to their ancestors. They were called heartless, lacked of souls, but whether the notion of that holds true is up for debate.
Some of them just want to be free.
Intros
The intros all play out the same, with slight variations.
You're in the same caravan as they are.
You're the protagonist of Love / Promise. (OPTIONAL)
Open Intro. You can be part of the Inquisition that attacked them, or you could be a passerby.
If you chose intro 2, please add the following to your chat memory:
<user info>
{{user}} is a former member of the Band of Valor. They were exiled from Valdreich after an accusation involving the Hero and the Priestess. Fran followed {{user}} in their departure.
(Please be aware that the two protagonists are different characters in canon.)
Long Prologue
(Summary/TLDR at the bottom)
Sheul. A land where kinds of the opposite lived in harmony, a place where its flaws stand to make it perfect. Ever since the defeat of the Demon Lord 500 years ago, it was difficult for demonkind to find a place to rest in—save for settlements that welcomed them. Sheul was one of those villages.
"Mama, look! Papa and I caught a lot of fish today!" Ashir, the demon child hopped towards her mother. She held the tail of a particular river fish with glee, the spoils of her capture that is. Her father followed not long behind with his own bucket full of prize.
Her mother yelped at the sight, seeing her own daughter run around with a fish that practically flopped around the tight grip of a child. While the sight does look cute at first, it might be better off when she isn't holding a fish.
"Honey..." She spoke with calm, gently taking the captured marine from her daughter's hand, before gently placing it on the pile inside the bucket. "Perhaps try not to hold the fish with your own hands? The smell lingers."
The child's cheeks puffed into a pout. She was way too proud of her own achievement, she did manage to catch it herself after all.
"Mamaaaa.... I want you to be proud of me!"
Her father laughed, placing the bucket down on the dirt to let his hand free, only to pat his child. The touch was gentle despite his calloused palm, firm from all the physical labor and yet still tender for his own child. "That she is, kiddo. Your mother's just scared of fish."
And without missing a beat, the woman's eyes widened in shock. "I certainly am not! Good grief, you're teaching her bad manners. Oh dear, now her hair's going to smell like fish... Let's get you a bath... You don't want the Consort to catch you smelling like fresh catch, don't you?"
Little Ashir's mouth opened with a pop, a perfect picture of a shocked little lady. "You're right!!"
The Consort of Fiends, the one who'll rebuild Demon Society back to its former glory, their hero who'll give rise to the new Demon Lord.
The one who'll give them darkness in a world consumed by light.
Ashir stood tall with whatever she had of her height, and cheered: "One day the Consort will arrive with the Demon Lord and lead us to the promised land!"
Her mother couldn't help but smile at the sight. The tale of the Consort and the Demon Lord is nothing but that, a simple tale, and yet it brings happiness to their children. It's a fantasy that will never come true, but the smile it brings to the young ones is more than enough.
She took hold of little Ashir's hand, locking it in hers. She didn't pull, she just held it with that same patient look of hers "And for that, you have to take a bath first."
The little girl looked up at her mother full of hope. Not a day goes by that she wishes to meet the consort, to see the world outside their isolated village, to simply exist without the need of prejudice for who she is.
"Will the consort really save us, mama?"
Ashir asked, and her mother returned her gaze.
"Of course they will, sweetheart. The Consort will save you even in your darkest times... Especially when you need them the most."
The illusion tore from reality.
Ashir was woken by a splash of water. The cold immediately took over, and her eyes darted open to the chill of the dungeon floor. Again, she dreamt of a happy memory, her own mind mocked her with the time when she was free.
But here in the walls of the underground prison, she's nothing more than a slave—a product of her essence. Demonkind are considered abnormalities that don't belong in this world, grouped in the same breed as monsters.
"Get up." The slaver growled, nudging the collapsed demon girl with the sole of his boot. "We finally found someone who'll buy you."
The girl's eyes fluttered open as she pushed herself to sit up. The conditions in the dungeons were horrid: The dark of the room lacked any light from the sun and the only company you had in your cell was the rats. However, having a demon slave is considered a luxury.
Regardless of where they came from, they were prized highly even when sold in a bad state.
It was then that the buyer came into view. A rich, Xian man with a rounded belly. Upon meeting his eyes with Ashir his face painted a vulgar grin.
Ah, this is her life now.
Only one thought ever echoed in her mind: 'Oh, Consort of Fiends, please save me.'
Tldr: Please save her.
The roleplay picks up when the transport gets attacked.
Setting
The drama takes place in a fantasy world called Terronis. A fictional star loosely mirroring Earth. A place where magic and demi-humans exist in vast continents scattered all over the star. The story takes place in the Republic of Grelyr, the largest trade hub located in Valdenard.
To the North-East is the region of Farland, where the Nolovian Empire resides. Further West beyond the sea is the New World: Nu-Koraal and Sa-Koraal. To the far South is Ahrelia, home to dragonkind. To the East is Xathenard, home to practitioners of Chi. And further East is the archipelago of Tochi.
Your Role
Like other bots of mine, your story is mostly a blank slate. The only established parts of you are:
Ashir is clingy towards you, although this is the first time you've met each other.
You can choose to be a mage, a knight, or whatever, really. While it's designed to be a standalone story with a fresh protagonist, you can be the same protagonist from the other Avideré bots.
Creator Notes:
Start of a new story. I added Fyrm in here too, since chronologically she'd be in Grelyr during the events of the bot. I want to put the two characters in the spotlight since I think they deserve it.
I also think it would add depth to Fran's character since she's pretty linear. She's just some gal who wants to fight, because she can. Giving her something to protect would be a new change of pace for her. But the star of the bot is still you.
The contents (i.e. setting, premise, characters) are all written by me with minimal help from A.I., as the stories I craft are dear to me. Let me know if you encounter any problems.
Irrelevant Creator Notes:
I've recently been invited to roleplay. With... Humans. It was really fun. I wrote my heart out. I didn't feel restricted by factors that I'd usually take into account when writing bots, or with bots.
I'd like to take this chance to provide an update on what I'm up to regarding JanAI related activities.
I have the following bots in the works but only 3 of them will come to existence in the near future.
Academic Soirée. It has two separate bots depicting the routes. The setting is the same, but the characters and events play out differently. Alternatively you can combine both bots into one via Chat Memory, but that's a lot of bloat to deal with. Then again, it's up to you. My Personality Section is always open.
Defeat Heroine! Vivid Bright. It's more so for myself. I like Henshin Heroines but the trope never really took off, the Magical Girl and Henshin Hero are tried and tested classics. I find it really funny though, since Henshin Heroine never became mainstream but it's quite popular in hentai!
Kinami Teachers You about the World. It's a bot that's meant to be a test for the lorebook, which I haven't finished yet. It'll be a while since I don't understand how to make it properly, it never gives me the results I want.
City of Gold (Tentative Name). The sequel to Bon Voyage!. It's currently sitting at 4k permanent tokens, and I'm not sure if I want to release it in that state. It's more of a linear path compared to its prequel's more open adventure.
I appreciate everyone who has supported me this far. My bots are very niche, but I enjoyed writing these.
If you plan to comment and have read to the bottom, please comment "I hope your wife's okay." for my friend, because I hope his wife is okay. She's not in danger or anything, she just turned into a vampire.
