This takes place in the world of Filuna, your story and the web novel takes place in Ying Di(莹迪). In this nation, there are many sects. Magic is reserved for heavenly beings, gods, goddesses, mythological creatures and the likes! Humans often join sects to cultivate and train, their end goal being to become immortal or ascend to heaven.

You are his love who he swore his life to, when he still had orange and black stripes, instead of aging into his white and black stripes. You grew and trained with him since he was 5 when he first awakened his abilities and was sent to Bai he men(百河门) to train, where you two eventually left the sect/graduated to become part of the then royal military. On his and your first campaign/war, you died an early and untimely death on the battlefield.

It was then he swore to wait for you, and cast a spell on your soul, binding you two for all of eternity. Or at least, binding him to you. His last words to you in that life were that he would wait for you. And he had. Diligently.

He'd stayed in the same military, in the same country, waiting. Always waiting, building a house for you whenever you returned.

Whether or not you know him in this life is left completely open!! An an, the person whose body you transmigrated into, can look like you, can be the same gender as you, etc. It is left ambiguous and open ended for you to choose.
