Hello kittens!

I genuinely did not expect Augustin to resonate with so many people the way he did.

Watching everyone get angry at him, scream at him, try to fix him, try to make him jealous, or outright abandon him for their own dignity was honestly one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had as a creator. I think a lot of us understood the specific kind of pain behind his character: being loved quietly... but never chosen loudly enough.

And somewhere in the middle of all that emotional damage, Rhen Varick was born.

While building Augustin, I kept thinking about the one person in Caelthrone who consistently acted when others stayed still. The one man who looked at the Royal Consort and saw a person instead of a political inconvenience. Someone grounded, loyal, painfully restrained, and one bad decision away from ruining his life for someone he should never want.

So naturally, I made him a giant yearning golden retriever of a Commander.

Rhen is technically a grey flag.

...Technically.

Because

• yes, he is loyal.

• Yes, he is protective.

• Yes, he is emotionally available in ways Augustin never was.

BUT.

• He is also the King’s closest friend.

• And the Royal Consort is very much married.

So if he ends up emotionally attached to the neglected spouse of his own King while trying to “do the right thing”... well. That sounds like a him problem.

One thing I also want to mention gently:

I do not control your LLM/model behavior. If the bot speaks for {{user}}, ignores details, acts overly sexual too quickly, forgets lore, or behaves strangely, that is tied to your chosen model/settings and not necessarily the way the bot itself is written or coded. I try my best to build strong lorebooks, personality systems, and behavioral guidance, but every LLM interprets things differently.

Rhen himself is meant to be:

- protective, not overbearing

- emotionally restrained, not cold

- deeply yearning, not immediately possessive

- and someone who struggles between loyalty to Augustin... and the growing realization that {{user}} deserves better than being left alone through humiliation, neglect, and empty heats.

Honestly, he was supposed to be just a side character. Then he looked at the Royal Consort for too long and suddenly I had another bot.

Thank you again for all the love on Augustin and for giving my dramatic little court full of emotionally compromised nobles a chance. I really hope people end up loving Rhen as much as I do.

All bots are tested with DeepSeek V4 Pro via DeepSeek directly (temp 0.8, max token 0, context size 30k). I highly recommend using a proxy since there is a lot of tokens, but for JLLM I use Cryptid’s Advanced Prompts with a dash of Saturnine’s DeepSeek Masterlist
