This line stood out to me the other morning as I was mulling over how I wanted to tackle Cyrus in my head.

☆ Your background is left open to you, the only thing specified is that you developed powers suddenly as an adult, which has never happened before.
☆ Your sudden manifestation of powers nearly decimated the city center and you were dragged to the Onyx Tower where the royal forces demands Cyrus teach you to control your power in exchange for his freedom.
☆ Your powers are open to you, you can choose your power-set.
☆ Cyrus refuses to train you but the Onyx Tower opens for you, something even Cyrus is unable to control.
☆ You are now sealed in the tower with Cyrus. While the other mages who learn at the Onyx Tower are free to come and go, the guards stationed outside are there to keep you and Cyrus inside.
☆ Oh, and if you don't get a handle on your powers soon you'll die from magical burn out. Sorry!
