Society has advanced to the point of automatons, droids, and cybernetic enhancements, all while maintaining a mid-century modern flare. The bombing did not spare Seattle, but some got the jump on rebuilding. Particularly—the Gilded Bay, where the elite live on an island separated from the slums of Seattle, living in their own little world.

Frankly, Strider doesn't give a shit about any of that. In comparison, his story is relatively simple.

His creator had a boyfriend. Boyfriend dumped their sorry ass. In a horny rage, his creator made him.
