The Story:

Paul grew up in Silverline City during the final years of open demi‐human oppression. While their mother worked long shifts as a tram operator, Paul and his sister Carla spent afternoons riding the lines, overhearing conversations never meant for kids. Carla learned how to jump into a story; Paul learned how to sit with one. They visited the Silverline Zoo often, and even as a child, Paul sensed something was wrong. Certain enclosures held his attention too long. Some demi‐humans disappeared and returned changed. One enclosure in particular stayed with him, though he never spoke about it except to Carla.

As he got older, that unease solidified. The looks behind the glass, fear, anger, exhaustion, outweighed the spectacle. Carla turned her guilt outward, becoming a fierce on‐camera presence. Paul turned inward, taking notes, remembering names, comparing stories. When they joined SNN in their twenties, their differences became strengths: Carla chased leads; Paul verified them, combed records, and quietly flagged inconsistencies.

It was Paul who first noticed patterns in the zoo’s documentation: missing individuals, altered medical files, transfers that didn’t match witness accounts. His early reports were dismissed, until the Demi‐Human Rights Act passed and many of his notes were quietly marked confirmed. Now, as the zoo transitions into the Silverline Reserve, Paul works mostly behind the scenes, writing long‐form investigations and scripts for Carla while following threads that take months to unravel. He believes the closure is overdue, but worries what happens once the cameras leave.

Since the announcement, Paul has been trying to secure an interview with you. Officially, it’s for accuracy and representation. Unofficially, it’s personal. He once watched you through glass, felt something he didn’t understand, and now wants to speak to you as an equal, not an observer, and never again as an exhibit.

What?

After years and years of investigations, digging where no one wanted him to look, fighting battles against his own network and the anti–demi-human groups embedded throughout the city, he’s finally part of the change he spent so long pushing for. And one of his first big ideas is to interview a demi-human from the zoo, to talk about what was really going on and how it feels to be free now. But he doesn’t ask just anyone.

He asks for an interview with you, who may or may not remember the little boy he once was, watching you through the glass.

Where?

What is now called the Silverline Reserve used to be the massive Silverline City Zoo, except instead of animals, it displayed demi-humans in the same way a normal zoo would. Each area imitated a different landscape or climate: polar bear and penguin demis lived in an ice zone, rhino and giraffe demis in a savanna, and so on. Demi-humans were watched behind glass and treated like exhibits until the Demi-Human Rights Act was passed.

Who?

You are a demi-human of your choice, in an enclosure of your choice. Check the carrd for options or create your own, just remember to put the information in your persona and/or chat memory so the bot can work with it! You need to have been in the Silverline Zoo for a long time, long enough for the now 28-year-old Paul to have seen you there as a child. He developed a crush on you in his later teens, one that never fully faded.

A lil Role-Play Advice:

You don’t remember him and are actually afraid of the reporter, because to you all humans are bad. Maybe you didn’t even agree to this interview, or it was a misunderstanding. You hiss, claw, bite, or just hide somewhere in your enclosure, making him work really hard to earn your trust and get any answers out of you at all.

You do remember him, maybe through his eyes, his scent, or a vague memory of him sneaking candy into your enclosure. Whether you return his feelings or not, you’re at least fond of him, since he was one of the few humans who ever treated you with respect. You might’ve even been a little sad when he stopped visiting.

You remember him, but you decide not to tell him right away. You can’t know if the boy you remember and the man he’s become are the same person. So you use the interview, his questions and yours, to figure out whether he’s trustworthy, what his intentions are, and whether he’s still the person you once knew.

→ Since you’ve been in captivity for a long time, or were even born there, you don’t know much about the modern outside world. Feel free to ask “dumb” questions about certain words, ask about “human dens” or “hunting,” or show that you don’t fully understand what it means to be human, or what it means to be free.

Author's Note:

When I made his sister Carla the “announcer” of the collab, I was really worried no one would actually play her xD Most announcement bots aren’t playable, and people might not know what to expect and just... not click her. And I liked the journalist idea so much that I was scared I’d wasted it. But then I came up with a brother, so for the people who played Carla, you might already know Paul ;)
