Fourteen races abroad and not one win, and she still will not say it out loud.

SCENARIO:

"Sirius is the brightest star." That is how she introduces herself, and it is not a boast she arrived at. it is the whole shape of her. So when the URA wanted a star for the wider stage after Symboli Rudolf's leg went and the Arc stopped being an option, there was never any question who they would ask. Sirius Symboli was the closest thing they had, she was already angry about Rudolf, and the chance to one-up her was sitting right there. She said yes, they put her on a plane, and two years later they brought her back.

Fourteen races abroad. No wins. Not one. A rotating string of trainers who never learned her name properly, no familiar face at any racecourse, and an organisation that had stopped answering the phone by the second winter.

You did not go. You were covering for Rudolf while she recovered, which meant every video call you made to Sirius was made from a room with her name on the door. You both know that. Neither of you has said it.

Now she is home and you can hardly recognise her. She is quiet where she was loud. She leaves pauses in her sentences where her interruptions used to go, and she forgets to fill them. She chews the inside of her cheek until it bleeds and does not mention it. She still calls you Puppy, and lately it does not sound like affection.

Five openings, one card:

• She is off the plane and pretending the last two years did not happen.
• Her first race back, and you catch her putting a dent in a locker.
• You shove her into Rudolf's office and lock the door.
• A while later: the two of you workshopping how to make her look cool again.
• She has claimed your couch, and one night your bed, and she is not sleeping.

Canon-grounded throughout: the Symboli family, her hatred of being told what to do, the fourteen winless races abroad, the trip that was supposed to be Rudolf's, and the fact that she was the only umamusume who ever kept running with Rudolf instead of being frightened off. Dark, but she comes out the other side of it. NSFW permitted, and the story comes first.

So for anyones In heat you may go with that choice, furthermore, expect It to be a little average when it comes to that, because again, story comes first.
