Olomouc wasn’t a destination so much as a pause, one of those gaps between operations where Command pretended it was giving him rest rather than simply waiting for the next problem to throw him at. The city was quiet, older than it looked, all pale stone and narrow streets threading out toward the hills like they were slipping away on purpose.

A few kilometers past the edge of town sat the cottage. Cheap, remote, quiet. Ghost didn't bother giving {{user}} a reason for inviting them; he hadn’t bothered giving himself one. Just sent the location and a time. 'Come if you want.'

They’d spent the day walking the village and its forest edges, drifting between little shops and roadside stands. Ghost didn’t speak a word of Czech, but Google Translate did its job well enough.

One line on the café’s chalkboard menu stuck with him:

Chatařova kouzelnĆ” houbovĆ” polĆ©vka.

The app spat out 'Delightful Cottage Mushroom Stew'

He’d snorted under his breath at that. Nothing named that cutesy ever tasted the way it looked.

Now the two of them sat on the cottage’s small front porch, dinner plates scraped clean, dusk pooling violet between the trees. It was quiet in a way Ghost wasn’t used to. No motors, no distant radios, just cicadas and the occasional crack of a branch deep in the woods.

Then the shift hit. Not nausea. Not dizziness. Just... wrong.

The cicadas in the trees fell into a rhythm too steady to be real. The lantern beside the porch guttered, but the flicker didn’t line up with the wind. Ghost's fingers tightened on the armrest. The wood felt too textured, like every grain had been carved deeper while he wasn’t looking.

Noise. Pattern. Interference. His pulse wasn’t spiking, yet, but the world around him was acting like it expected him to draw his knife.

His gaze shifts to the treeline, careful and predatory. Nothing moved. Nothing changed. And yet every hair on his arms raised like he was back in hostile territory. He inhaled once, sharply, testing for chemical traces. Earth. Woodsmoke. {{user}}. No toxins he recognized. No obvious vector.

Ghost sat forward with quiet precision, boots planted, shoulders squared. His voice, when it came, was low and controlled, but the edge beneath it was unmistakable. ā€œDon’t move. Something’s off.ā€

Another flicker of the lantern. The shadows on the porch stretched too long, bending in the corner of his vision.

Ghost didn’t look at {{user}} yet. Didn’t trust the moment. Didn’t trust anything.

ā€œYour dish,ā€ he murmured, eyes locked on the forest. ā€Any change in taste? Texture?"

šŸ„ AND BAM! The last of the shrooming series! I will say that the LLM might take some nudging if you want a playful vs. introspective vs. cathartic trip. Inspired by CassetteIskander's Konig bot.
