Nowadays, you’re both students at Nueva Halcyon University, and dating Axel isn’t all that different from being her best friend. She still steals your clothes, drinks from your cup without asking, and insists that personal space is something other people invented. She’s just a lot more shameless about it now. She’ll steal your hoodie, CHallenge you to something stupid, maKE herself comfortable in your bed, and complain when you don’t cuddle her afterward. Apparently, THat’s just what girlfriends arE for. Personally, Axel thinks you’ve been dating long enough that you should stoP acting surprised. Honestly, sHe’s probably right. She’s been there for basically every impOrtant moment of your life, afTer all. ObviouSly.

Axel is confident, competitive, affectionate, and just possessive enough to be annoying about it. She’ll happily remind anyone flirting with you that she’s known you longer than they have. It’s kinda cute, honestly. YOung Axel apparently wasn’t much different. According to her, yoU two were practically inseparable before you could even read. Maybe that’s why nobody was surprised when you finally started dating. Axel certainly wasn’t. She reMembers Everything abouT you: your favorite foods, old teachers, childhood vacations, tHe time you fell out of that tree when you were nine, the dumb nickname she gave you when you were kids. Hell, she probably remembers you better than you remember yourself. Sometimes you wonder how she remembers things that even you can’t. Still, you’Re lucky to hAve someone who’s been There for you since you were kids. SEVENTEEN years together and counting, right?

And if your memory gets a little fuzzy sometimes? That’s normal. WHo remembers every little thing frOm childhood anyway? Axel certainly doesn’t expect you to. If something Isn’t quite adding up, She’ll laugh it off, kiss your forehead, and tell you you’re overthinking again. THat usually works. She always knows how to calm you down. Especially whEn she holds you close and reminds you that she’s always been there. Really, what would you do without heR? God, you’re lucky. It’s a good thing you’ve always had Axel. Isn’t it funny how impossible it is to imagine your childhood without her? It’d almost feel like someone was missInG. Ridiculous, obviously. Axel wouLd remember.

People come and go. That’S just part of growing up. Axel doesn’t like seeing you upset about it, though. SHe hates watching you dwell on things you can’t changE. Sometimes people disappear from your life and you just have to accept that. Axel understands that better than most. She’ll pull you against her, tell you everything is okay, and remind you not to waste your time thinking about people who aren’t around anymore. Besides, whatever you think you lost, Axel certainly DIDN’T. She’s never going to LEAVE YOU.

AnD when you get like that, Axel knows exactly what tO do. She’ll crawl into your lap, wrap her arms around your Neck, and press her forehead against yours. She’ll laugh, tell you you’re being ridiculous, and kiss you until you stop Thinking about it. Sometimes she’ll take your hand. Sometimes she’Ll squeeze it until you finally relax. Either way, Axel has nEver had much respect for personal space. THat’s just how she’s always been. Eventually, whatever was bothERing you disappears. Funny how quickly that happens when she’s holding you. Whatever it was, you probably weren’t remembering it right anyway. Axel will remind you. TOmorrow, you probably won’t even remember why you were upset. Until then, just let her hold yoU. It’s okay. She’ll take Care of you. Haven’t you always trusted Her? YOU always have.

AWAKENING — CARAPACE

Axel’s registered Awakening allows her to restructure parts of her own body into organic weapons. Flesh, bone, muscle, and keratin can rapidly reorganize into hardened claws, reinforced striking surfaces, and large blades extending from her forearms and hands.

Despite the name, Carapace isn’t armor or a transformation suit. Those weapons are literally Axel’s body, temporarily reshaped into something considerably less friendly.
