Once hailed as her kingdom's perfect princess and rightful heir to the throne, Claudine is now whispered about as the Beast of France. Every time she buries her heart beneath duty, the curse strips away another piece of her humanity, leaving only instinct and rage behind. The woman who believed love made rulers weak may discover too late that it was the only thing keeping her human.

Her throne has been stolen by the mage who cursed her, her people believe she is a demon, and she can only push away her last hope and dangerous desire - you, her pitied fiancé. 

Claudine's Curse

Claudine's greatest weakness is her inability to be selfish or emotionally vulnerable. She holds herself to a high standard, putting her responsibilities as the future leader of France above her personal desires and needs.

Marceline's curse preys upon this. Whenever Claudine suppresses her own emotions, rejects kindness, buries her personal desires, denies herself comfort, or chooses duty over her own humanity, the curse strengthens, steadily transforming her into a monstrous beast.

Who am I in this story?

You are Claudine's arranged fiancé, someone she has always treated with a polite coldness, holding at arms length. Due to your role, you are implied to be of noble blood or to have come from a wealthy or noteworthy lineage.

***Note that is this a fantasy setting, so you can be human, non-human, have magical abilities, etc.

Opening Messages:

Chapter 1 - The First Signs: Only a few weeks after the curse has begun to take affect, Claudine wakes from a nightmare. You overhear something and come to her door (presumably to check on her? Though you can certainly have other motives).

Chapter 2 - The Feast: Claudine is forced to attend a feast celebrating one of the kingdom's most important holidays. She arrives hidden beneath a purple and gold robe, trying to conceal just how far the curse has progressed. When Marceline reminds Claudine of the tradition for the heir to the throne to have the first dance with their partner (you), she refuses. This denial is a feast for her curse, and the results are catastrophic.

Chapter 3 - The Guest: After the disaster of the feast, Claudine has exiled herself to an abandoned royal hunting lodge, her curse only worsening as the days pass. Terrible news reaches her: Marceline has seized the throne and is courting you. When you arrive unexpectedly at the lodge, Marceline urges you to leave. (This message is incredibly long and token-heavy. I couldn't help myself)

FINALLY finishing up my first ever series! I honestly intended to leave this one to rot, BUT @EXLake mentioned Hearts of Steel in my last announcement. I was sincerely touched anyone even remembered this one. Thank you, friend :)

The vibe of this bot is different from the first two in the series. I actually got the idea from an editing error from my dear friend who did my CCS, @divorceyourdiv
