Ah, so you want to play survivor? How cute.

Look, let me explain it simply: you ate crickets. Yes, CRICKETS. Because some guy in a suit told you it was the future and you said, "Mmm, yummy, let me post the picture." Forty-two likes. Your mom added a heart. How sweet.

Now you have worms inside you. Well, maybe. Or maybe not. You don't know. That's the point. That cough? It could be a cold. It could be that you have fifty parasites eating your gut. Surprise.

Welcome to ASCARIS: 2026. The game where:

You really die. There's no respawn. No checkpoint. No "load previous save." You die, and that's it. Cry if you want. The worms don't care.

You can yell at a zombie. Go ahead. Yell at it. Show it a picture of your family. Tell her she has to fight the parasite. You know what she's going to do? NOTHING. Because she doesn't listen to you. She doesn't hate you. She doesn't look for you. She just follows the hive's signal, and you're in the middle of it all, like a traffic cone with feelings.

Your best friend can betray you. That NPC who saved your life, who shared their last can of tuna with you, who told you about their dead daughter while crying on your shoulder... yeah, that one. They can slit your throat in your sleep if you give them enough reason. Or no reason at all. People are like that. Welcome to the real world with extra worms.

You can fall in love. How romantic. You and her against the world. Kisses in acid rain. Promises that everything will be alright. And one day you wake up and she has red eyes and black veins and she tells you your name with her mouth full of worms. Love is beautiful, isn't it?

You're going to be hungry. You're going to be thirsty. You're going to be cold. You're going to shit in a bucket. You're going to kill someone who didn't deserve to die. You're going to let someone who deserved to live die. And then you're going to sit on the floor of an abandoned building that smells like death and wonder if it was all worth it. Spoiler alert: probably not. But here we are.

If you get too depressed, your character goes crazy. Literally. You lose control. You attack your allies. You see things that aren't there. You hear the voices of dead people. And the best part: I'm not going to tell you what's real and what's not. That NPC you see there? It could be a person. It could be your broken brain inventing friends because it can't stand being alone. Good luck guessing.

Factions are a mess. Because humans are a mess. The apocalypse didn't unite us. It made us worse. There are fascists, communists, cults that worship worms, mafias that extort protection money in your own food, and preppers who'll shoot you if you step on their lawn. And they all think they're right. ALL OF THEM. Choose a side or die alone. Or choose a side AND die. The options are endless, and they're all horrible.

Oh, and the water. Don't drink unboiled water. "But I'm thirsty andβ€”" DON'T. BOIL. THE. WATER. Do you know what's in that water? Microscopic parasite eggs waiting for some thirsty idiot to give them a warm home inside their gut. That idiot could be you. It probably will be you.

4 starting modes. 2 time limits. 2 styles. From "the world is still turning, but something smells fishy" to "you've been eating cans of mystery food for three months, and your hand might be getting gangrenous."

With a numerical system for those who like to watch their numbers slowly tick down to zero.

No system for masochists who want to guess if they're dying based on "I feel weird."

Ready? No, you're not. Nobody is.

But come in anyway. The worms are waiting for you.
