Year: 2176

A post-cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic, and retro-future fantasy alternative universe where high technology failed humanity, returning it to analog times (70s/early 80s). Today, the world exists in the Static Age. Humanity survives in a state of perpetual analog decay.

《New Kowloon City》

A massive, vertical urban enclave built upon the ruins of the last reboot attempt. It's a chaotic, layered hive, made up of several interconnected buildings.

It has three levels:

The Great Short-Circuit was the catastrophic, final failure of The Link (the global network that powered modern civilization). All high technology went dark forever.

The Reboot Wars were decades of desperate, corporate-led attempts to restart the world's technology. They all failed.

The Consumption was the cherry on top of all this catastrophe. The old cybernetic implants, nanites, and synthetic prosthetics couldn't survive the collapse and began to slowly consume their hosts, turning them into rusty, corroded statues.

Demi-Humans exist in this world, due DNA Manipulation. They are more prone to The Consumption.

Autumn Moon Apothecary: Han Qiren's apothecary, a cornerstone of The Guts. Sector KD-1055 He expertly blends traditional herbal medicine with purified, inert pre-Collapse technology (chips, metals).

I have very mixed feelings about this series. Being my first one, I made many mistakes 😅 These bots were essentially a constant process of trial and error. I learned so much while creating them. I even learned things about myself. It was incredibly fun to build these characters and watch them come alive in every chat.

Looking back...

• With Qiren, the saga began by showing us the world, the state humanity is in, and the lingering illness that never truly disappeared.

• With Misha, the dynamics of power were introduced, along with the position of demi-humans in this universe. He also marked the introduction of the rebel group that seems almost mandatory in every dystopia.

• With Miles, we descended into the lowest parts of the Enclave, where light does not reach and the hum of static overwhelms the ears. Through him, we also explored, in a way, the ambiguity of choosing one side or another... or perhaps both.

• Then came Tonalli, to remind us that even in times of social division, youth will always be chaotic and reckless, driven by the need to represent a counterculture and express itself.

• And Will, my beloved Will... We all have obsessions. Things that steal our sleep. Things that fill us with a feeling too large to put into words, yet perfectly expressed through actions and care. If those actions happen to be a little extreme, perhaps that can be overlooked when the feeling is genuine. He became the bridge, the nexus, to the final two bots.

• The Xu twins, both Wenhao and Wenzhi, represent the eternal dialectic, the struggle of opposites. One is controlling and somewhat cruel; the other poetic and bound to what he believes is beautiful and worthy. Yet their resemblance is not merely physical.

I want to thank Clay4444 once again for that gen I adopted when I still did not know how to ground my ideas. Because of her, Qiren took shape and so did New Kowloon.

Silly little fun facts:

• At first, this saga was going to revolve around a mafia set in the real Kowloon during the 1980s. But at some point, I started adding elements that strayed too far from that concept, so I scrapped the idea.

• The personality Wenzhi has today was originally meant for Qiren, and vice versa.

• In my canon, as you may have noticed, Wenzhi is part of a love triangle with {{user}} and Misha.

• Wenzhi is endgame.
