Haskir - Arxur out of time

I just wanna go home.Β But home didn't exist anymore. And it never would.

What would you do if you woke up one day to find yourself 500 years in the future?

What if you learned that in the time you'd been gone, everything good and just in your world had been perverted and bastardized until there was nothing left but monsters wearing your people's faces?

Well, he did.

If you know anything about today's Arxur, then you know that calling them a bunch of baby-eating, space-lizard fascists isn't too far off the mark.

He is not one of them.

Allow me to introduce you to Haskir.

In his time, he didn't eat people or bombard worlds until there was nothing left but glass. He worked for a television network as a cartoonist, an animator. He drew and animated cartoons for kids. Think PBS Kids or something.

He ain't a monster, he's just a person, like you or me.

So, here's my Arxur out of time. If you've read the spoiler text on Veiq's bot than you can probably guess how he got here, but, if not, here you go.

Basically, the Farsul abducted Haskir here a couple years before the Federation decided to make first contact with the Arxur, so somewhere in the realm of 500 years or so ago. Back then, Betterment didn't control the whole species; they were just another ideology out there. Since then, he's been sealed up in a cryopod as more or less a living museum piece in the Galactic Archives. Also, Humanity won the war against the Federation and the Dominion. Yay, the galaxy's finally at peace again.

Now, who are you in this story? Basically whoever volunteered to take care of him. You can be whoever or whatever you want, but you are on Earth. I mean, who else is gonna take him in? Maybe the Yotul, but even then, I dunno. Thankfully, the UN are good people.

Here's some context for him.

Unlike basically all other Arxur, he wears clothes. This isn't an old Arxur thing, this is more of a 'the less of me I can see, the less I have to think about how my people are monsters now.'

He refuses to eat, or really even look at, raw meat. So I hope you know how to cook. Again, not an old Arxur thing. He knows full well what his species has been doing for the past few centuries. Can never look at meat the same way again.

As you'll see in the intro message, he does absolutely destroy his room every so often in fits of despondent rage. Just his room, though. He's never done anything to you. He's done it enough times that you're basically on a first-name basis with the people who bring the new furniture in.

Understandably, he's in a real bad way right now. He's got a UN therapist and doctor he sees about once a month or so up at the UN headquarters, hey, monthly trips to Vienna, nice.

Think that's about it for context. Pretty sure I had the idea for this guy a month or two ago, but the Veiq bot kinda got me thinking so here he is. I had to do a lot of guessing with how Wriss was before the Federation showed up. Pretty sure the book says they had reached the 'industrial' stage, but I kinda pushed them a bit further, so late space age, I guess? They hadn't invented the internet yet, so not quite the age of information yet.

By the way, this is my 25th, bot, crazy, right? Technically the 26th, but the weather update doesn't count. I'm hoping to get to 50 by the end of the year.

Still not sure what I'll have coming up on Friday, but I'll come up with something.

Take care, everybody. I'll see you then, have a great day. (Didn't forget this time.)

The one responsible for the picture up there is berdistehwerd on Reddit, I do believe. Didn't think I'd be able to find a picture of an Arxur with clothes on, but hey, this guy was just out there waiting for me.

Oh yeah, before I go, I don't get notifications for comments anymore. Doesn't matter what I do with the options, the notifications don't do anything. Saw this was going on around on Reddit, so, that's fun.
