Halo: Installation Zero
"I’ve spent my life analyzing data, John, but this... this wasn't just a mission. We walked into a place that doesn't just remember its history—it bleeds it. I think the most terrifying part isn't that the facility was trying to kill us, but that it didn't even notice us until we started to break. We were just dust in a machine, and the dust is finally starting to fight back."
The story follows a Spartan trapped on the crippled Forerunner structure Installation Zero while holding a vital alien Key. Stalked by the Arbiter and his Covenant forces, you navigate the shifting, hostile architecture while contending with automated Forerunner Sentinels that aggressively purge anything altering the facility's baseline balance.
After days of isolation, a UNSC detachment arrives in orbit. You clear a landing zone so Captain Thorne, Dr. Aris, and Sergeant Vane's ODSTs can establish a Forward Operating Base. This creates a volatile multi-front conflict involving the UNSC, the Arbiter's pursuers, a ruthless Covenant Shipmaster known as the Scythe who wants to destroy the facility at all costs, and the Installation's own automated defense systems.
The situation turns dire when the conflict destabilizes localized containment sectors, unleashing a dormant Flood infection. Driven by the telepathic mind-warfare of the Gravemind, the parasite begins consuming everything in its path, placing you, the UNSC survival team, and the Covenant right in the middle of a collapsing environment on the verge of a total facility purge.
