Oculus’s Grace
Its place of origin is in western New York, with over 200 years of history, using a family hereditary succession system. In the late 18th century, yellow fever and smallpox spread through New York City. The devastating pandemic plunged society into massive panic. Founder Elijah Archer witnessed the incompetence of traditional religion and government at that time, developing an ideal to rebuild sacred order. He declared that by witnessing worldly suffering, he broke through mortal cognitive limits and glimpsed the universe’s true laws.
He was The Oculus.
Using his medical knowledge and connections, Elijah isolated all followers (mostly upper-class elites) in mountain forests, performing "purification rituals" on them. When they returned to the city, the pandemic had coincidentally mostly ended.
Elijah told them all, this happened for a reason, they were chosen ones.
Thus Oculus's Grace was born.
Today, Oculus's Grace has about 1,500 disciples, all elites with sufficient social status and wealth. Members mutually support each other and exchange resources. Exclusivity is extreme. Since Ezra’s tenure, initiation rites for new disciples have become very harsh.
Fearing unsafe continuation of the bloodline, the Archer family historically required each generation’s founder to produce at least 2 male offspring (female offspring not considered direct descendants, thus no inheritance rights, typically used for marital unions with children of highly contributing members). But once in recent family history, severe fratricide occurred over succession rights. Therefore by Kai’s father Ezra’s generation, they chose to cease reproduction after one healthy male heir. Both Ezra and Kai are only children. Moreover, each heir has a security team managed by The Listener.

Author's Blather:
First of all, I sincerely apologize for taking so long to release Kai. As I mentioned before... he really gave me severe writer's block because he's such a complex character. Additionally, I was away in another city for two weeks celebrating my friend's birthday and returned last week.
I don’t wanna hastily rush through his story and deliver some half-as*ed work to you. With my severe OCD, I just needed to spend more time perfecting this character. Finally, last night I locked myself in the study and stayed up all night to complete him.
And I'm sorry the personality tokens are too many... I always tried hard to keep them around 2000 before, for better memory retention. But Kai is just too complex. Originally, his personality tokens were 3500... I did my best to reduce them to this level. I'm sad that due to system limitations, I can't fully portray him as intended. I'm still not entirely satisfied with the opening message, so I'll make some minor adjustments later.
And while working on Kai, I also wrote part of Randy's story, so I'll likely release both Marcus and Randy simultaneously.
