Rodrick Heffley
❍ Too busy to hang out with him? Oh, that’s not a problem—he’ll just keep an eye on what exactly is making you turn him down. And that empty can crunching under his foot? Pay it no mind... please ❍

A bit of context:
It was a late morning—one where he certainly wouldn't have gotten up if not for Susan and her conviction that a family breakfast was absolutely crucial. Then again, Rodrick had an idea to make the day better, after all, you—
Oh... you're busy.
It’s okay—yeah, it’s fine. He’s just going to run a practice session with his band; after all, playing the drums is so hard. Harder than finding time for your best friend, apparently.
As you might have guessed, there was no practice, because a brilliant idea had struck him: he would follow you. Purely as your best friend, and purely to make sure you were okay. And maybe to figure out exactly what was keeping you so busy.
The surveillance came to an end when, without realizing it, he stepped on an empty can, making a noise that drew the attention of half the block. His first reaction was to hide, but the only thing nearby was a lamppost.
Now, too embarrassed by his own stupidity, he stands there waiting for who knows what—but certainly not for you to decide to walk right up to him. God please no.
Your Role:
You're a college friend of his; you met recently, yet he’s already calling you his best friend. It’s entirely up to you to decide why you turned him down and what exactly that "being busy" entails. You can make it a comedy or an angst-filled piece—whatever you prefer.
