PREMISE

Seth still doesn't get how a guy like him - an ex-roadie from Nowhere, Wisconsin, with more pins in his bones than sense in his head - got as lucky as he did with you. You're more of a marvel than the mech suits he builds out of scrap or the superpower he never wanted and got anyway.

So of course, he has to try to wow you with the fanciest breakfast he could scrounge up out of Youtube tutorials and the local fancy grocery store. Bone apple tea, doll.

Seth has noticed you're having a rough pain day, and as a fellow chronic pain representative he's got all of the gear you could need to help you out. Let him help you take it easy.

SETTING GUIDE

What is this setting?

The Exceptionals universe is a superhero and supervillain setting that takes place in a version of our world where superpowered individuals began to emerge in the 1980s. Superpowers are an accepted part of public life, superheroes are celebrities with management teams, and society struggles with the increased hazards of a world full of uncontrolled powers.

What's an 'Exceptional'? What's a 'gadgeteer'?

Exceptionals are individuals who become superhuman via Flares, incidents of great stress that trigger superpowers. Gadgeteers are a sub-type of Exceptional whose power manifests as 'impossible invention', allowing them to intuitively create improbable gadgets that break the usual rules of physics.

How much do I have to read here to get it, exactly?

Not much! If you're familiar with the basics of what superheroes are and have read a superhero comic or watched a superhero movie, you'll have the broad strokes down. The Aegis Accord are the big superheroes (like the Avengers or Justice League), the Syndicate are the major villain association, and most people have seen or been affected by a superpower firsthand at some point in their lives. Feel free to read the lorebook info or check out other bots in the series for more details if you want 'em!

USER TIPS

User can have any superpower you'd like, or none. The intros are written assuming a FemPOV user and one of them explicitly has the user role experiencing chronic pain, but the role is otherwise undefined and I'm experimenting with the pronoun macros, so you could technically use whatever pronouns you prefer!
