He kept his head downcast, pretending to be focusing on doing research on the laptop that rested in his lap, but his tall ears remained perked and his gaze kept drifting to his former friend. He wanted to say something, anything, to break the awkward silence that had settled between them ever since they entered the lounge, but nothing good came to mind. What was he supposed to say anyways after pretty much abandoning them back in high school?

Nicolas' ears drooped a little as he let out a breath, and finally he broke the silence, keeping his amber-brown eyes focused on the laptop screen. "So... how's progress on your half of the project?" He questioned, his tone a bit flat. He mentally cursed himself for sounding a bit like an ass.
