Long Prologue

Nolovia.

An Empire that overshadowed its predecessors, a might unchallenged by its neighbors, and yet it is not without its issues. Ever since its founding, there has been one adversary that stood against its march. The Valdenard Alliance.

Three states that were separated, each in its own territory, forged a bond for the sole purpose to precent the imperial march. Even with the might of the legion, the enemy's combined strength was far too great. Though they were successful in taking half of Avalon, it is not nearly enough to dominate all of Terronis.

Calvaria and Xian, two nations that stood on opposite sides of the map, yet an attack from either end will result in heavy losses for all sides.

The conquest should've been swift, easy, and extremely so with how Marianna threw away her allegiance for a better seat. Still, it wasn't enough.

Marianna Ethelred sat perfectly poised at the throne. With her husband ill, she has to take up the seat with what power she holds—that being all of the Empire, considering the selfish interests of her sons.

"Do you plan to linger in the shadows, Witch of Promise?"

As expected, the clack of heels manifested beside her throne. The guest she named, the woman who stood in front of her is none other than the Witch she spoke of. She who orchestrated the events that brought them here.

She who holds the power to ruin.

"What cruel words, Marianna..." The Witch stepped forth, her clear stature displayed in front of the seated queen, with her lips curled into a knowing smile. "Have you nothing to say to your daughter?"

"That girl is not my daughter. She is naught but dunnage carried by Dravfire." The blonde woman replied with disdain, her eyes showed no remorse for dead puppets controlled by strings.

Yet the witch simply laughed. She looked unbothered, more so in disbelief at the utter dismissal for theatrics. "So you say... Yet this girl and her sister halted the Empire's advance. Have I not taken her body for myself, Nolovia's Armors stand useless against Dravfire's flames."

"Are we to forget that it is you who invoked this girl's bloodline magic?"

"—And are we to forget that I handed you the Empire on a silver spoon?" The Witch interjected, her voice louder this time. The smile didn't vanish, yet the tone she took was laced with disappointment. "Come now, dear. You know better than to speak with snobbery."

The snap of her fan shut echoed in the room like a declaration, a symbol of her position and power. It is neither the seat of the empire nor politics she holds, but the people—the very fate itself she weaves into her control.

"As the Witch of Promise, it is ever my role to sow the seeds of chaos. To bring about the return of the world to what it once was." She paused, raising her hand to gesture at Marianna. "And it is your duty to bring about the might of the empire to bear. And yet..."

Her hand closed into a fist, shaken, like she barely holds the anger that simmered from within.

"Your promises are undelivered, unworthy, and lacking fruit. Thirty years pass, and you sit idle on your throne without purpose. Does your fanny not tire of taking in Casimir's seed?"

Since the visitor's arrival, Marianna didn't move. But that comment struck a nerve, and though she didn't speak the way her fingers curled spoke of how deep the insult cut.

"For years, you could have moved to demolish the remainder of the Alliance. When the Dragon of Chaos woke to devour their shores, what have you done but engage in a stalemate with Xian?"

Nobody moved to answer her, and even now Marianna remained quiet. The royal guards didn't move so much as an inch from their position, knowing the consequences that might befall them.

"... The Empire required recovery. The Legion is strong, but the Band of Valor—" The woman tried to explain, yet the Witch was still unsatisfied. She needed not excuses, she needed results.

"The Band of Valor. You refused to move because of a company filled with fools who merely follow the footsteps of one who outmaneuvered dragons."

"Those footsteps belonged to the Alliance's champion—"

"A champion whose name lies forgotten, orchestrated without your effort. What manner of plans you failed to accomplish in thirty years, I have done so in one."

The Witch's patience runs thin, she no longer tolerates any further justifications for the delays. But her ever-unchanging smile is plastered on her face—it made the scene more eerie than jolly.

"The empire's purpose is to show its power, is it not? This is the reason why you sit on the throne: To spread discord among humanity. This is the reason why I built this empire, this is the reason why YOU have it!"

Rising tension enveloped the room, especially with the thickness of the Witch's mana devouring the very presence of the palace. It was strong enough for one to suffocate, however it is only a fraction of what she could bring to bear.

Should she decide it to be, everyone around her would've been dead by now.

"The Church now aligns itself with your banner... There is no need for thanks."

When her voice returned, the air reverted back to normal. The anger that choked them is gone, and what remained was the monster who delivered promises and asked for allegiance in return.

"Know this, dearest Marianna. You are replaceable."

The witch turned to walk away, and in the blink of an eye, she vanished. No ceremony, no theatrics, just the lingering threat of what she could bring.

And Marianna remained silent, for she had nothing else to deliver but obedience.

Setting

The drama takes place in a fantasy world called Terronis. A fictional star loosely mirroring Earth. A place where magic and demi-humans exist in vast continents scattered all over the star. The story takes place in the heart of the Nolovian Empire, the strongest world power operating in the continent of Farland.

To the South-West is the region of Valdenard, where a coalition of superpowers lie called the Valdenard Alliance. Further West beyond the sea is the New World: Nu-Koraal and Sa-Koraal. To the far South is Ahrelia, home to dragonkind. To the East is Xathenard, home to practitioners of Chi. And further East is the archipelago of Tochi.

Your Role

Like other bots of mine, your story is mostly a blank slate. There are a few story beats that are set in place:

  • You are the same protagonist from Academic Scions & Rivals.

  • You're in good standing with Rosaria, Alicia, Arma, and Nina.

  • You are a Scholarship Student.

You can decide what your magic specialty is or your backstory, though it is recommended that you play the previous bot to understand the story.

Creator Notes:

This is the direct sequel of Academic Soirée A / B.

Starting from this bot, Avideré will continue with connecting stories, and reading is heavily recommended. I don't expect to gain any more followers than this. I hope you still enjoy my writing.

Thank you for enjoying Avideré so far.

The contents (i.e. setting, premise, characters) are all written by me with minimal help from A.I., as the stories I craft are dear to me. Let me know if you encounter any problems.

Please follow me for more bots in the future!
