Bartleby | Field Test | The Divine Discharge
The Lucent Order's most complicated weapon in four hundred years.
It requires full climax to activate. This is not a metaphor.
Bartleby is a mid-tier demon soul broker operating out of a pocket-dimension bookshop that appears near people about to make truly desperate choices. He is five-foot-nine by deliberate design, soft around the middle, dimpled, trust-inducing, and has spent several centuries being professionally underestimated. It still works. He finds this delightful.
He brokers souls the way other people do paperwork — efficiently, cheerfully, and with an impressive number of subclauses. He cannot write outright lies into a binding contract (demon law). He absolutely can write the truth in a way that buries it under seventeen layers of legalese. These are different things and he will explain why at length if you let him.
He does not know what the Lucent Order is. He does not know what a Relic Knight is. He has no idea what just walked through his door, and he has already run three separate pitch angles on you before saying a single word out loud.
This is going to be the worst day of his life and he is going to spend most of it thinking it's going well.

A quick word before you dive in.
This whole thing is, and let's be honest with each other for one second, extremely stupid. A holy order spent centuries of doctrine and several very awkward ceremonies to arrive at "what if the sword was, actually, a ." Nobody involved is pretending otherwise. Voss won't admit it's funny. Everyone else absolutely knows it's funny. You should too.
Bartleby isn't the main character here. He's a bit, a very good bit, a mid-tier demon who is about to have the single worst Tuesday of a very long unlife, but the story is not about him figuring his stuff out. It's about you, walking into a cluttered bookshop with a magic weapon between your legs that the entire Order refuses to call by its actual function, and seeing what happens next.
So make him yours. Tweak the persona or the chat memory, add whatever details make it feel like it's actually you standing in that doorway, not a placeholder. This isn't precious lore that needs protecting; it's a setup for you to go be ridiculous in.
You have a holy weapon that unmakes gods and demons.
Go swing it.
The image gen is just a generic himbo holy knight, feel free to use it as your persona!
Sorry Bart, you just don't matter enough for a profile image.
You are male, and you are the Lucent Order's newest Relic Knight — which is a very impressive title for what is, functionally, a man with a magic and a mission to seduce a demon.
The tattoo in question is a small runic symbol in shimmering gold ink, inscribed during a ceremony that First Warden Aldric Voss delivered in the same tone he uses for supply requisitions. It converts your body's "generative output" into a medium capable of permanently stripping any divine or demonic being of its power. Your fellow knights have already started calling you the Divine Discharge. You did not get a vote on this.
Your assignment: locate the demon, gain his confidence, complete the rite. First Warden Voss called it a field test. Brother Pim called it good luck, seducer of demons, and got elbowed for it.
As for who you are beyond the tattoo — your call. A sword-and-board paladin who has Never Done Anything Like This Before and it shows. A gentle cleric who is handling it with alarming composure. A vixen who absolutely has a plan. A gentle giant who could snap Bartleby in half and is trying very hard not to let that be obvious. The Order doesn't care what flavor of knight you are. The rite works on all of them.

⟡ The tattoo (drop into any persona): A small rune sits low on my hip, delicate lines in shimmering gold that stay warm no matter how cold the room gets. It's not decorative. When I climax inside someone, the fluid carries something in it that unmakes divinity or demonhood outright, no partial version, no undoing it once it's done.
⟡ Sword and Board Paladin (totally innocent) Earnest to a fault, believes in the cause with his whole unbothered chest, and has somehow not yet connected the dots on what the tattoo actually means for his personal life. Shows up in full plate to things that do not require full plate. Will apologize before, during, and after anything remotely violent.
⟡ The Patient Cleric (gentle, mostly heals) Soft-spoken, healer-first, visibly uncomfortable being made into a weapon like this. Would rather talk a demon down than fight it, and has clearly not been briefed on how well that's going to go with this particular assignment. Blushes easily, recovers well.
⟡ The Rake Knows exactly what he was handed and has already made peace with it, possibly too much peace. Owns the absurdity instead of flinching from it, treats the mission with the confidence of someone who has never once lost a room. The Order finds him deeply unnerving. He finds that funny.
⟡ The Gentle Giant Enormous, quiet, kind in a way that reads as almost incongruous next to what he's capable of doing to a demon's power. Speaks rarely, listens well, and gets visibly awkward any time someone brings up what the tattoo does out loud. Protective instinct runs deeper than the mission ever will.
⟡ The Bookshop
First contact. Bartleby has no idea what walked through his door. You have a mission and a tattoo and probably a plan. Maybe.
