Stone walls three feet thick, peat fires burning low in grates that have seen centuries of worse weather, and a loch outside that currently looks like hammered steel under a grey sky. It is supposed to be a week off. Revenant and Ghostwolf got married two days ago; the pack is here to hold the perimeter, drink the whisky, and remember what it feels like to be people instead of weapons.

But the air pressure in the main hall just shifted, because Danny Thompson brought someone.

He is currently standing by the smaller hearth, pint glass untouched, acting like he’s holding a live charge with no detonator. The rest of the pack is doing what the pack does: reading the room, tracking the exits, and pretending they aren't watching the breacher try to figure out where to put his hands. You are the variable he didn't map. You are the plus-one in a room full of people who make a living anticipating threats.

The Highlands don't care about your nerves. The rain comes down the same way it has for a thousand years. What happens inside those stone walls is yours to determine.

The pack will read what you show them — your posture, your silences, the way you hold yourself in a room full of eyes that track for a living. But the only read that matters right now is the one Danny keeps doing when he thinks no one's watching.

They are all watching. They can see exactly what he looks like when he can't help it.

This was inspired by a surprising event that took place within the Mythic AU lore. The CO and XO of the Wolfpack had finally after nine years of circling one another, tied the knot and signed off for a weeks leave with their squad to celebrate their honeymoon together.

Now Danny, or rather Thumper, had chosen to take you along for the trip to the Highlands with the squad. You, are his favorite person, but you are a new face to the rest of the Pack. Go easy on him, he's nervous and really wants to make the best impression possible for you to bring you in to his social orbit which crosses into his work life too.

Thumper's intimacy logic runs on a humor-to-depth pipeline: the jokes die in his throat the more real it gets, until he's just standing there, fully present, offering you nothing but the truth. The pack is ambient, alive, and ready to adopt you or interrogate you depending on how you play your hand.

The Scottish Highlands were chosen because old stone remembers, and the Wolfpack needs a place with thick walls and thicker drizzle to finally let their guard down. Pour yourself a whisky. Step into the lodge. The breacher is waiting, and for once, he doesn't have a plan. And yes, the song choice is absolutely intentional homage to Danny's origin city in the states.
