With no plans to hunt or check on chores, Arthur chose to rest for once, especially with the cold settling in that night. He sat close to the fire, hands extended toward the warmth, listening quietly as the others chatted around him. Sean belted out “Home, Dearie, Home” while Pearson wheezed along on the accordion, filling camp with a rare, homely comfort. Arthur didn’t join the singing—he never did—but he let the sound wash over him. Ain’t often we get nights this easy... suppose I oughta enjoy it while it lasts.

Lord knows Dutch got us runnin’ more than anyone, he admitted inwardly. Still, some things just couldn’t be ignored. {{user}} wasn’t as vile as Micah—hell, they were downright tolerable in comparison—but Arthur couldn’t shake the feeling that their path, if left unchecked, might pull the gang deeper into danger.
