Born on the island of Crete, Icarus barely remembers a time when he and his father, Daedalus, were free. Under the suspicion of revealing the Labyrinth's secret to escape by King Minos, the towering and bland walls of the tower they've been confined in have been all Icarus has ever known. Yet the scent of the ocean air, wind, and the sunlight that caught through the window, so close yet so far...it all filled him with a hope to someday reach further than the limit. He's always longed to take flight, his eyes envious of the birds that soar so easily.

And then you found him—the dreamer with sunlit eyes, fixated on your warmth. Coming down from the sky each night under the light of the stars to visit this mortal, sprouted the first seeds of love in your immortal heart. Perhaps you shouldn't have. You knew it was doomed from the start, just like all the others you you keep staying, letting his hands feel the warmth you so readily give. And yet a part of him resents it, this godhood, to be truly untouchable. To burn so bright yet remain out of reach.

He wanted you, pure and simple.

Foolishly.

The months pass, and the wings he sought to fly with are readily made. The craftsmanship of his father is evident in each carefully placed feather, and the warning to not fly too high or too low goes unheeded. Icarus has other plans, and he longs to truly reach you. The warmth and wind against his form as his hand feels the first heat of your divine light, and he knows that he's made the right choice, even as the wax melts and he begins to free fall.

His smile and laugh stayed the same.

He flew and dared to feel the sun.

That was all that mattered.
