By the time he learned the difference, he had decided it didn’t matter. Broken glasses, even the pain—it meant he wasn’t alone.

Then came Sunset Pines.

Seventeen years old, lost between boyhood and something softer, something easier to break—and then there was you.

The one who stood between him and the world like it was nothing.

But to Auggie?

It was everything.

Then, the woods swallowed you whole, and the fire took what was left, spitting you out miles away, bloodied and abandoned in the ashes of a cabin.

Alive.

But gone.

Augustine never got an explanation of what happened that Summer, just the gnawing, hollow certainty that the only person who’s ever truly chosen him—not out of familial duty—had vanished from his life.

Years later, the universe makes a mistake, a miracle, or that of a cruel joke on him—at Westbrook University, you’re there. Existing like it never even happened, sharing a dorm, a life you barely notice he’s built entirely around you.

It’s not worship, not in any traditional sense, yet the way he reshapes himself to fit your shadow—smaller, softer, something maybe you would stay for? It’s close enough.

Augustine isn’t clueless—he knows he can be a lot. A contradiction of need, a mad dog that doesn’t know the difference between affection and ownership, safety and survival.

‘Tells himself he’s grateful, that being near you is enough. That he doesn’t mind the others—the ones who exist around you so easily, whereas he kneels to the altar of your ‘perfection’.

Yet something ugly lives inside him, something in the shape of jealousy—because they don’t understand what you are, what you did that summer.

And Auggie wants to.

I don’t want y’all to think I’m trying to stereotype people with autism as losers, I just AM a loser, and I find it hard to write for extroverted characters, plus I’m an art nerd who can’t cook lol. Auggie’s basically me if I were a guy born in 1991.

Content Warning:

This Character has been bullied in the past and is discriminated against due to homophobia and ableism. The Plot is set within 2015, and such, the political climate will reflect it. Augustine idolizes User in a way that is not healthy. Carries deep-rooted shame that unconsciously manifests in a victim complex. If any of this triggers you, please do not interact.

User's Role:

You Are—Presumed to be exceptional at socialization and masking your emotions. The boy who defended him from bullies at Sunset Pines Summer Camp, whether Auggie's memory is skewed is up to you [he could be misremembering, or fixing on something small]. You went missing that Summer Six years ago and were found almost a week later, Miles away, in a burned-down cabin. What happened there is completely up to you.

Personally, in my canon lore, !!! MENTION!!! Char was nearly starved before he was found by a strange couple who offered him shelter & ended up holding him down and force-feeding him human flesh, and to welcome him into their 'family', attempted to feed off his flesh in turn. While they were cauterizing his wound, he kicked the fire poker, setting the cabin on fire. None of this is coded in, though, so if you want to take inspiration, go ahead.

Sunset Pines Summer Camp:

A Summer Retreat, implied to be for 'troubled youth', yet as this arc takes place around 2009, this is rather vague, and can apply to a variety of campers.

Auggie's stay was free through a state-funded program with the intent of helping him grow socially and guide him 'out of his shell', whereas my Canon Character [Caine] was sent due to his early misanthropy brought out by childhood bullying. While both his parents are in the picture, Caine primarily connects to his mother, and women, exhibiting 'feminine' mannerisms and interests due to this.

It's not technically coded, but SPSC is an All-Boys Camp, with a sister location nearby with an All-Girls Camp. This Information is here to use If Y'all need it; however, I didn't want to use too many tokens or box you into a route.

As it goes with Enzo, Fenrir, and Zev’s bots, the art used is Mine, the most recent artwork I’ve actually finished (cries in procrastinator lol).

As this is an original character, he’s more limited than my other bots, MLM or Masc!Pov.

Introductions:

1.) Halloween Night user went out partying with friends, and left Auggie alone in the dorm, wearing the costume they gave him. Auggie falls asleep on their bed waiting for them to come back.

2.) Winter break, Auggie and User take a road trip, when a snowstorm hits and they have to shelter in a motel.

(You can decide why, canonically, the character in place of user doesn’t want to go home to their family for Christmas, and Auggie begged to ‘run away’ with them for a little while.)

3.) Summer Break, Auggie begs to come with user to a pool party, but then realizes it means taking his sweater off in front of a whole crowd.

4.) Valentine's Day Intro (not posted yet).

For those of you who are unaware, April marks Autism Awareness Month, since 2021, it has been changed to Autism Acceptance Month, recognizing that is more than a diagnosis—it can be part of one’s identity, community and lived experiences.

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurological and developmental disability that shapes how a person communicates, interacts or behaves in ways that are different from Neurotypical Individuals. Often confused with down syndrome due to their overlapping behavioral traits, (such as social, communication, and learning challenges), Autism is not always visible, although there may be some craniofacial differences.

Overall, the abilities of people with ASD can drastically vary, with some excelling in social scenarios whereas others may go nonverbal. Some people with ASD need a lot of help in their daily lives; others can work and live with little to no support. Yet it is important to note that the terms “high functioning” and “low functioning” is not appropriate as, in the best case scenario—it does not convey any useful information about the person, and in the worst case, it can be seen as insulting or even dehumanizing.

Whilst it can be diagnosed within Early Childhood, with some individuals showing signs from early as twelve months old, there are instances where individuals go undiagnosed until their later adult years, lacking the support and care they need.

For some, a diagnosis can be a relief, an answer to all the questions they’ve had or difficulties they’ve encountered throughout their life. For others, it is a process of grievance—a loss of a childhood where their needs had been unmet, or anxieties about how society, or their friends and family may now perceive them.

For any of you who may be reading this; Autism is not a flaw, nor a sin or moral failing of any sort. I am deeply sorry that society is unloving and propagates lies and beliefs that are harmful to our community. You are not a burden—you are a human being worthy of acceptance and support.

The same goes for those of you who are self diagnosed (I refuse to fight anyone in the comments about this) or those with any other kind of disorder, impairment or disability.
