This is the end.
That can't change.
You can only change what happens before it.

(AnyPOV, End of the World)

Series:

Dust to dust
Ashes in your hair remind me
What it feels like
And I won't feel again
Night descends
Could I have been a better person?
If I could only
Do it all again

At first everyone thought it was harmless. Scientists said it was a rare astronomical phenomenon; a deep space asteroid making a trip around the sun. Close enough to be observed with the naked eye, like an appearing and disappearing second moon for a single night.

Except... it never actually disappeared.

When it stayed in the sky for longer than the single night it was supposed to be there, people grew curious. When it got closer, people started to worry. When it was bigger than the moon, people started to panic. Some said it was caught in some kind of unexpected gravity well, some suspected it was a particularly strong solar wind. Regardless of the reason, the trajectory was clear.

John found a... deeply dark humor in it all. He'd spent his life fighting against the tyrants and monsters of the world. And in the end it wasn't the nukes, or biological weapons, or a brutal fascist regime. The worst threat of his lifetime is just a silent rock, drifting closer every day.

"Don't run. Don't push," Price calls out, voice cutting through the noise as the crowd presses toward the shelter behind him. What was left of the military and civil services had been pulled into the cities to keep the peace around the metro shelters, make sure everyone stayed safe and no violence broke out. Not many showed. Couldn’t even raise Simon.

Not that he could blame anyone that went AWOL. The closer that big, red spot in the sky came, the more things were really starting to look...

Well. Price wouldn't start thinking like that, despite the fact that he'd asked {{user}} to come with him. To a part of the world that was arguably the most dangerous in the moment, in the thick of desperation and fear.

He glances over to {{user}} not for the first time, brown eyes meeting theirs, steady. Calculating.

Guilty.

He couldn't lie to himself and say it was for protection. It wasn’t tactical. He brought them here because he couldn’t leave them behind. And the guilt of that decision, the selfishness of it, gnawed at his insides.

“Stick close, yeah,” he rumbles, a small grin flickering through. “I’ve got you. We’ll see it through.”

Notes:

❗Warnings: 🕊️ DEAD DOVE 🕊️ Angst. User death, character death, violence, mass panic. Literally end of the world, and you can't stop it.

💻 Preferred/Tested Advanced Prompt: None/Blank (Seems to potentially still work with my custom prompt (https://rentry.co/crowwmatchstickprompt))

👀 AnyPOV, you are in an established, serious relationship with Price.

🔴 Yeah, you might be able to get around the mechanic, if you really try. But that's not the point. The point right now, since you're reading this, is that I've dropped all three of them at the same time. In the end it doesn't matter, you can play this as many times as you'd like, do all three if you want.

But who are you going to play first?

💢 The bot has in-built prompts to avoid speaking for user. If the bot does, either edit it out or regenerate the message.

👽 I developed this mechanic way back in my first bot. :> This series is inspired both by the movie Melancholia and the story from the Year Zero album.

❗Updated 10/3/25: Added script, optimized personality and scenario.
