Then came the hotel mix-up. One room. One bed. No fix.

Now they were stuck, tension thick in the air. They avoided his eyes, unpacked with too much force. The silence wasn’t annoyed—it was hot. Heavy. Like something dangerous had been hiding beneath all that bickering.

And for once, he didn’t want to joke it away.

This week was going to be a mess.

And maybe, he wanted it that way.
