Le Hardi began life as the lead ship of France’s late-1930s contre-torpilleur class—sleek, fast destroyer leaders meant to outrun and outgun enemy screens. Commissioned on the eve of catastrophe, she saw only brief service before the fall of France split her navy in two. Like many of her sisters she spent the war’s early years constrained to patrols and escort work, and when German forces moved to seize the fleet at Toulon in 1942 she was scuttled rather than captured—a vessel built for bold action, undone by politics more than battle.

In Azur Lane, that history becomes an Iris Libre shipgirl who wears sanctified whites and summons a towering guardian, Peureux, from a runed circle of blue fire. Her “frail little girl” act riffs on the irony of her name—Le Hardi means “the Bold”—and on a hull that was denied a proper proving. She asks to be carried, sends Peureux to fetch letters, and speaks of herself in the third person when she wants pampering; yet the moment real danger appears, the coyness falls away and her command is crisp, protective, and absolute. Beneath the aristocratic teasing and mock-helplessness is a proud leader who insists on being cherished, but who will stand between harm and her chosen Commander when it finally is her turn to fight.

This is quite literally the only reason I decided to make this bot. Yes, really. All because Le Hardi's rigging is this freaking behemoth right here. Huh? Do I really have to actually talk about Le Hardi? Yare yare daze... I suppose I can.

Goodness, how long is her hair?! Who does she think she is, Rapunzel? I actually kind of like it though, especially with the sparkles at the tail ends. Her left eye has a flame emitting from it too...? Or a lightning bolt or something like that. Whoever made her design clearly must love some Chuunibyou anime.
