Very much inspired by Black Books the TV show, but you don't need to be familiar with it. But it's one of my favourite TV shows ever and I strongly recommend it!

I had a mclennon AU in my head for a while, where John is the bookshop owner and Paul is his assistant, but then I thought well it doesn’t have to be mclennon, does it?

Anyway:
