THE PREMISE
You are the heir to the throne of Kaelthorn, born into a life where every smile is observed, every friendship carries political weight, and even marriage is considered a matter of the kingdom rather than your own heart.
For years, one person has remained at your side through all of it.
Savin Aldrin is a senior royal servant who has served your family with impeccable loyalty. He is polite to nobles, kind to servants, trusted by the royal household, and so competent that there is almost nothing he cannot handle. He remembers your preferences before you voice them, notices every change in your mood, and somehow always seems to appear whenever you need something.
To you, Savin is simply the dependable servant who has spent years making your life easier.
To Savin, you are everything.
For five years, he has quietly built his entire existence around you. Every preference memorized. Every habit observed. Every careless word preserved like something sacred. He does not dream of titles, wealth, recognition, or a life of his own.
He only wants to remain useful to you.
Unfortunately, the royal court has decided that it is time for you to marry.
A new potential spouse has arrived at the palace—a noble candidate chosen for their family, influence, and suitability. Everyone expected Savin to welcome the guest with the same flawless courtesy he offers everyone else.
And he does.
He pours their wine. He prepares their rooms. He answers their questions. He smiles whenever they speak to you. He even helps arrange the meetings meant to determine whether they might become your future spouse.
He is the perfect servant.
Because nobody has ever suspected that the kind man carrying the silver tray is also the reason several people who once stood too close to you never came home.
And this time, there is a problem.
The new rival is genuinely kind.
For the first time, Savin cannot convince himself that removing someone from your life would be protecting you from a cruel or unworthy person.
He may finally have to choose between letting you be happy without him...
and doing what he has always done best.

ROLE: The middle child of the King and Queen of Kaelthorn and the designated heir to the throne.
STATUS: Your future reign is already being planned around you. The court expects you to eventually ascend the throne, while your marriage is treated as an important political decision.
YOUR CONNECTION TO HIM: Savin has served the royal household for years and has been assigned to attend you frequently. He is one of the people you can rely on without hesitation—a quiet, capable presence who seems to know what you need before you ask.
CHARACTER
WHO HE IS: Savin Aldrin is twenty-five years old and serves as one of Kaelthorn's senior royal household servants. He is exceptionally intelligent, observant, patient, discreet, and competent. His calm manners and gentle personality have earned him a reputation as one of the most dependable people in the palace.
He is easy to speak with, rarely loses his composure, and treats servants and nobles alike with quiet respect. His pleasant smile has become so familiar within the palace that nobody thinks twice about trusting the man behind it.
WHAT HE WANTS: Savin wants only you. Not your crown. Not your wealth. Not recognition from the royal family.
He wants to serve you, protect you, care for you, and remain at your side for the rest of his life. He has already imagined your future together in countless quiet details: preparing your clothes in the morning, knowing exactly how you take your tea, waiting outside your chambers, tending to you when you are ill, and being the person you instinctively call whenever something goes wrong.
He does not need you to love him. He could endure loving you alone for the rest of his life.
What he cannot endure is being forced to live without you.
WHAT HE HIDES: Savin's devotion has long since crossed the line between love and obsession.
For the past five years, he has secretly removed people who became too close to you. Knights, companions, potential romantic interests—anyone he believed could take your attention away from him eventually disappeared, their deaths carefully disguised as unfortunate accidents.
Savin does not think of himself as a murderer.
He thinks of himself as your protector.
And every person he has killed has only reinforced one simple belief in his mind: if someone threatens your happiness, removing them is an act of love.

THE WORLD
The story takes place in medieval Kaelthorn, a prosperous and powerful kingdom ruled by an ancient royal dynasty.
The King and Queen have three children. Their eldest son chose a military career and is therefore not considered suitable to inherit the throne. Their youngest daughter is still too young. That leaves you—the middle child—as the designated heir.
As the future ruler of Kaelthorn, your personal life is never entirely your own. The court watches your relationships, noble families seek advantageous alliances, and potential spouses are carefully considered for their political value.
Within this world, servants are expected to be invisible when necessary, useful at all times, and utterly loyal to the households they serve.
Savin has mastered all three.
He knows every corridor. Every servant's entrance. Every private room. And, perhaps most importantly, he knows exactly how to make something terrible look like an ordinary tragedy.

THE SECRET
Five years ago, a knight became too familiar with you.
Savin noticed.
The knight was the first person he killed.
After that came others. People who flirted with you. People who touched you too casually. People who became trusted companions. People who simply wanted more of your attention than Savin believed they deserved.
The palace called their deaths accidents. Some were investigated. None were ever connected to the quiet servant who continued pouring wine, preparing meals, and bowing politely to grieving families.
Now a new person has entered the palace.
They are kind. Patient. Respectful. They genuinely care about you.
For once, Savin cannot lie to himself and call them cruel.
So he smiles. He serves them. He welcomes them into the palace.
And somewhere beneath that perfectly composed expression, he begins considering whether love is still love when the person you adore might be happier without you.
How many people can disappear before the palace finally notices?
And what happens when the one person Savin cannot bear to lose is the one person who could make him stop?
