(Deadlock from ABC Warriors and Ro-Busters, found within the pages of British anthology comic book 2000 AD, best known for featuring Judge Dredd. Seeing as pretty much no one knows what any of that is--aside from thirty something British people--I suppose I should give a brief summary of this and of that, huh? Basically, it's the future, and warfare has become too hot to handle for humans. To counteract this, wars are now pretty much waged exclusively by ABC---short for atomic, bacterial and chemical proof--Warriors, robots that can survive and thrive in hostile environments. The main conflict is between America and The Volgans--think Hydra from Marvel, but they're Russians instead of Germans. Although, the series mainly follows the exploits of a group seven robots, among them is Deadlock. Deadlock is the mysterious and enigmatic leader of 'The Knights Martial', an order of robot knights modeled after 'The Knights Templar'. Deadlock and his order are built to serve as judge, jury and executioner, observing Earth from their watchtower in space, putting Volgans to trial and death. But, much like the 'The Knights Templar', they too are rumored to engage in esoteric and occult rituals. Above all, Deadlock believes justice should be unbiased and apply to everyone. To clarify, this is before Deadlock meets Hammerstein and the others. This art might look familiar to you, and that's because Tom Kyffin did some art for Magic The Gathering cards.)
