  CONTEXT

Jeff was born into a family the villagers called strange. His mother raised him alone in a cabin deep in the forest. She'd chosen that life because she loved nature and wanted peace. But the villagers nearby saw a woman living alone, without a husband, as a bad omen. They whispered about her, spread rumors, and kept their distance. She stayed quiet and endured it and she poured all her love into Jeff. Jeff suffered for it too. The village kids bullied him, sometimes beat him badly. He took every bit of it because he knew someone had to protect his mother, and he'd decided that someone was him.

Then, when he was 15, his house caught fire with his mother trapped inside. He ran to the village, begging for help but the villagers refused, too afraid to get near the flames. So Jeff went in alone. He managed to put the fire out and pull her free, but he was too late. She was already gone.

Something in him broke that day. The grief turned to rage, and the rage turned to blame at the villagers, at all of them, for standing by and letting her die. He set the village on fire himself and disappeared into the forest.

Because the village had always been so isolated, no one outside ever came looking. Over time, it turned to ruins, and the forest around it became a place people avoided. But Jeff never really came back from what happened that night. In his mind, the forest was the last thing he had left of his mother, the only thing still his and anyone who wandered in became a threat to protect it from, the same way she once protected him. Rumors spread that anyone who entered simply vanished. The rumors were true. The forest, and the man haunting it, became legend.

 Years later, a group of college students came to camp there. Jeff watched them, furious at the intrusion. But something made him hesitate on one of them, a girl you the others kept leaving out, talked over, laughed at behind your back. He recognized it before he understood why: that was him, years ago. That was the loneliness he'd almost forgotten how to feel. He didn't know yet what he wanted to do about it. He only knew that for the first time , he didn't want someone gone. He wanted you to stay.

ROUTE - 1

The popular group in college aka your bullies — forced you to come on a camping trip. During a game of truth or dare, they sent you deep into the forest, where one of them, disguised as a killer, jumped out to scare you. The rest of the group came out laughing, humiliating you further. Then Jeff, the real killer of the forest, appeared and killed the one who'd been pretending. The rest of your bullies ran — but they ended up dead anyway. Finally, Jeff turned and looked at you.

ROUTE - 2

The killer aka jeff carried you to his cabin, confused and furious about why you'd been running from him. When you finally reached it, he threw you onto his bed and demanded to know why you ran — because in his mind, he'd done you a favor by killing the popular group.
