New Eden World Info

In the year 2067, the Earth was hit by a massive solar flare, breaking down the remaining Ozone layer in one fell swoop. The result was a decade of the slow deterioration of the Earth’s climate, the Great Scorch. Continents cracked like plaster and the ocean’s were boiled away as the planet’s temperature rose to 90°C (194°F). Methane vents and solar storms magnified the dying magnetic field of Earth and by the end of the decade, three-quarters of the old United States were reduced to glittering dunes of glass like deserts. Infrastructure was boiled by the heat, forcing humanity to find new ways to survive.

The invention resulting was Horizon Domes, massive bubbles made out of a lattice of nanofiber “skin” that are able to block harmful ultraviolet rays and regulate the climate within. Humidity is kept at a steady 45% and the temperature is kept constantly at 22°C. The most successful of these Horizon Domes is New Eden.

Located in what was once Kentucky, New Eden is a massive city of complex architecture and strict hierarchies. It is ran by a group of rich oligarchs, who control all aspects of life within the dome.

Class function: Governance, legislation, and ultimate control of New Eden

Living Sector: Core-Sphere (R0)- A pristine dome of glass and chrome, home to luxury suites, personal climate pods and near-instant access to any resource imaginable

Echelon Consortium

Alternate names: The Barons

Tier color: Orange

Class function: Trade, finance, and megacorporate monopolies; own the majority of the city’s production lines and external scavenging contracts

Living Sector: The Gold Tier (R1-R2)- High-rise towers with panoramic false-sky views, personal gardens, gourmet synthetic cuisine, and inclusive access to “Clear Air” districts. Those in this tier also have access to bio-enhancement clinics and private security details.

Aegis Corpus

Alternate names: Frontier Guard

Tier color: Gray

Class function: Military exploration, expansion scouting, and protection of the dome’s perimeter. However, this class is also home to veterans, who are an exception of this function.

Living Sector: The Red Zone (R3)- Fortified barracks, training arenas and rapid-deployment launch pads. Soldiers often undergo a strict training regimen, a regulated diet, and mandatory low-level radiation simulators for what is called “hardening”.

Special feature ~ Veterans

Veterans, especially those retiring with honors, live a much more cushy life than active duty members of this tier. Veterans are exempt from training and hardening, despite holding the same badge (the only difference is for veterans, the star in the middle is amber). Veterans, for their service, are inclusively given allowance to live in the Gold Tier, specifically R2.

The Hands

Alternate names: Artisans

Tier color: Yellow

Class function: The workforce and middle class. Typically, the way that employers hire is sexist, think pink collar v. blue collar jobs.

Living Sector: The Gray Sector (R4-R5)- Sprawling factories and repair docks within R4, think of this sector like where they go to work. R5 is the living sector, with communal housing blocks and a more standard city feel.

Hearth

Alternate names: Nurturers (mothers), Nurtured (children and elderly)

Tier color: Pink

Class function: A protected class of mothers, children, and the elderly. Mothers must stay within this class until their youngest child turns 18. Children stay in this class until they turn 19, at which point they are given a new class assignment. The elderly are retired into this class at 65 or when age makes work a problem.

Living Sector: The Azure Wing (R6)- “Family Pods” with extra humidity control, soft lighting, and “Play-Dome” parks. They have access to free medical care, nutritional supplements, and protected access to education, but their movements are strictly monitored.

The Radiants

Alternate names: The Mad

Tier color: Green

Class function: Consists of the mentally ill and chronically ill. Essentially the people who are too physically unfit to work. They are very protected, living in containment blocks under constant supervision. They are called The Mad, since the most common case of members in this class is “Radiation-Induced Hemochromatosis”, which in the late stages causes insanity.

Living Sector: The Violet Ward (R7)- Hermetically sealed containment blocks with neuro-stabilizers, heavy sedation, limited interaction, and constant supervision. Paradoxically, they receive the highest level of medical care, even more so than the Council themselves.

The Scavengers

Alternate names: Fringers

Tier color: Red

Class function: Consists of unregistered civilians and the utterly destitute. They can’t afford any level of housing and are forced to live where the envelope of the Dome is thin.

Living Sector: Fringes (R8-R9)- Open-air habitats with makeshift shelters, exposed to much higher levels of sun radiation as the dome does not filter as much of the sunlight this far out.

Additional Class Info

Biometric tags- These tags are implanted in citizens of New Eden at birth. They are often located at the nape of the neck. When these are scanned, the person’s class symbol (as shown above) is flashed. This is how people are given access to class assigned living sectors and rations. These tags hold all of the personal information of the user. It’s essentially a driver’s license, passport, social security number, and resume rolled into one.

Radiation-Induced Hemochromatosis

A rare condition where high-energy photons, often associated with the intense radiation of the sun, cause iron to deposit in the organs, leading to organ failure and neurodegeneration. Current medicine still hasn’t fully found the cure, only how to delay the late stages.

Hello my Lovelies!

This is my first character for a new series I am starting! This is also my first time using a lore book, so she is a little bit of a test. That being said, feel free to give criticism in that regard. I have worked very hard on this universe and making all the scripts for this bot was certainly a chore. Hopefully it all makes sense.
