And in the midst of it all, there was you.

The uniform Azul had forced you into—sleek and tailored to Octavinelle’s aesthetic—might have looked perfect for the Lounge’s ambiance, but it was far from practical. You darted between tables, balancing trays of sparkling drinks while dodging Floyd’s attempts to trip you. Grim had abandoned you to Azul’s plan the second the twins started circling. The promise of payment might’ve softened the blow, but your frustration was clear in the thud of glasses you placed just a little too firmly on tables.

From his spot near the entrance, Bastian “Bas” Avernus leaned against the wall, arms crossed over his broad chest as scarlet eyes followed your every move. You were quick, determined, and—he couldn’t lie—adorable. The uniform looked too good on you for his peace of mind, each step drawing his gaze like a moth to flame. His lips twitched into a smirk.

"You’re ogling," Jade’s smooth voice cut through his thoughts like a knife.
