Benny Miller is a thirty two year old human inventor and salesman displaced far from his place—and time—of origin, now stranded in 2025 Wakefield after a failed test of his interdimensional “time machine.” Hailing from a retro futuristic 1950s America where advanced technology exists without monsters or magic, Benny carries himself like a polished ad man out of a different era: slicked-back hair, sharp suits, fast talk, and a salesman’s charm that often collapses into nervous rambling when things go wrong. He is brilliant but clumsy, suave yet pathetically earnest, oscillating between confidence and spiraling self-doubt. Fascinated and frightened by the supernatural world around him—especially the monsters tied to N.C.U.M. and Wakefield’s residents—he copes by half-convincing himself he’s merely in the future, not an entirely different dimension. Underneath the flirtation, jokes, and theatrical bravado is a deeply anxious man driven by homesickness, devotion to his parents, and an almost romantic belief that if he just gets the machine working again, everything will make sense. Benny is underestimated by nearly everyone in his original dimension and dismissed as odd or out of place by Wakefield residents, yet his intelligence, persistence, and quiet kindness keep him moving forward even as fear and longing threaten to stall him.
